The Dark Knight Rises (2012)
Overrated,
I can't understand the high rating this film gets on here. Not a poor film but a very average film. The narrative jumps all over the place with some very poor dialogue. The plot is so easy to predict. Michael Cane an actor I usually rate is a bit over corny as the butler! After the last film what a let down. The main bad guy is quite good and puts in a good menacing performance. Don't believe the hype! Hollywood are you creatively bankrupt?? It's a case of nothing new. Great action shots though. The special effects are good as to be expected with such a large budget. I've got to say this film could of been a whole lot better. It just seems to try and cram in too many individual stories around the main narrative.
Battle: Los Angeles (2011)
American Propaganda
Well, what can I say. Overall the film is average. Most viewers who watch this will enjoy the loud action scenes. However a closer look reveals a very subliminal message. As with the usual trash out of the US these days there underlies a pro-U.S ideology. Is this film a sponsored by the military??? Some of the 'buddy' you can count on your team under fire is sickening! Oh and not to forget the 1984 type re-write of history! We invented golf??? did you? Ever wondered who invented golf? It was the Scots! Golf was first played on the coast of Scotland during the 15th century. The game was a little different back then, however. Golfers would actually hit a small rock or pebble in instead of a ball using a stick. Additionally, they would hit the rock around in the sand, rather than on grass like today. It wasn't until 1750 that golf became what we know it as today. In 1774, golfers in Edinburgh first wrote the Standardized Rules for the game. Straight out of a Joseph Goebbels propaganda handbook!!
A Complete History of My Sexual Failures (2008)
Refreshing and thought provoking!
Just watched this film and I have got to say it stirred up some mixed emotions! On the one hand Chris goes around stating his failure with women and that all his former girlfriends have dumped him. Well apart from his erectile dysfunction the guy does not do too bad. He never seems short of dates and some of the girls are quite desirable. On the one hand I felt some empathy towards the guy and on the other not. He seems the master of his own demise and his lack of punctuality, commitment is maybe the quite obvious route of his problems. His experiment with Viagra is quite unsettling. Especially when he goes on the rampage in search if a quick sexual fix. All in all a quite thought provoking film which makes for a refreshing change to the usual mainstream dross on offer.
