Teen Wolf (2011)
My favorite!
My absolute favorite series!
I love the humor and the characters. The friendship is in the foreground and except for the first season, not everything is based on love. Admittedly, the special effects are sometimes not the best and also some explanations sometimes sound a bit far-fetched. Otherwise, the storyline is really great with many twists and turns that you didn't expect before.
Although it often only scratches the depths of the individual characters, the series still managed to pick me up emotionally. The last season was especially hard, as all the characters grew very close to my heart. The makers could have done a bit more with the finale (I was waiting for such an epic battle the whole time xD) but it was still very well done. Also, I forced my boyfriend to watch it again with me and he also finds the series good, although he doubted at first.
It always depended on the season. Seasons 2, 5 and 6 I've completely wiped out and the others rather less, but that is also a matter of taste. I honestly liked the later seasons better, because I liked the characters better.
When I watched the last episode, I wanted to watch the whole series again (which I did) and it definitely won't be the last time!
I recommend this series to anyone who loves fantasy/supernatural and humor and maybe isn't necessarily looking for the cheesiest love story. Because as I said, this is more about friendship.
Der Nanny (2015)
Typical german comedy
Although I have the DVD, I somehow thought that I had never seen the film. However, when I started watching it, I remembered that I already knew it. The film actually falls back into the category of "typical German comedy" with the usual actors in similar roles.
The film was quite entertaining, but I wouldn't say that I laughed my head off or anything. Also, some "jokes" were just a bit exaggerated and unrealistic. However, it must be said that the film was somewhat heartwarming in some places and also brought a nice message across at the end.
The Other Woman (2014)
Cliché but not bad
It is a comedy and has a lot of humor. I must say that it is one of the better comedies and one of the films that I could watch again and again. The characters are a bit cliché, but I still really like them and they are well cast. Now and then there are jokes that are a bit stupid and too much, but that is sometimes unavoidable in American comedies. In summary, it can be said that it is an entertaining and definitely worth seeing film!
I can recommend it to anyone who likes classic comedies and is just looking for something entertaining to watch in the evening.
Mean Girls (2004)
Iconic
Yes, I actually don't know what to say. It was just one of those typical 2000s movies. While I like these kinds of movies, they are all pretty similar somehow. A somewhat unpopular or new girl suddenly becomes popular, abandons her old friends, and ends up learning a hard lesson that leads to a happy ending, but also conveys a deeper message to the audience.
Since it's a comedy, there were laughs every now and then, but you also found yourself rooting for Cady and hoping she was doing the right thing. Sometimes it was just frustrating to watch. Still, it's one of those movies you could watch over and over again. Unfortunately, it will not be my favorite film.
It's definitely a movie you can watch with a clear conscience and provide entertainment. So if you like teen comedies, this is probably a classic you shouldn't miss!
Back to the Future (1985)
A must-watch classic
In fact, I saw the film for the first time properly a few days ago, which is a shame, because I actually like such old movies very much and the film is simply cult! He has a very classic humor and films in which the mother falls in love with her son would probably no longer exist today. Rightly so, because it provided the one or other cringe moment.
Due to the cult status I had very high expectations of the film, which unfortunately were not quite met, but I was not completely disappointed either. The film has wit and you fever with Marty, who tries to bring everything back in order. Like many films from these years, it has a very pleasant mood and you could fully immerse yourself in the story. Even though some elements were very predictable, you were surprised in some places. I must say that I liked the first part best. The second was also still okay, but the third would not have been necessary in my opinion.
Clear recommendation to all who have not yet seen the film, because it is simply a must-watch!
Murder Mystery (2019)
Not the worst
Personally, I'm always a bit wary of movies with Adam Sandler, since they often go in a rather trashy direction. Murder Mystery, on the other hand, is actually not that bad. Of course, it has partly by Adam Sandler and also the genre "comedy" really stupid moments, but it was also fun to fever with and guess who is responsible for the murders.
There is tension every now and then with some unpredictable twists and it's interesting to see how you are often steered in the wrong direction. Unfortunately, there were also some logic errors and some things seemed a bit unrealistic, but there are really worse. The film was partly reminiscent of Knives out and Orient Express, though the latter was probably intentional as there was an allusion at the end. Unlike Knives out, I couldn't really get attached to the characters. All in all, the film was not a masterpiece but not a disappointment either.
A nice pastime if you like to puzzle along, as well as a mix of comedy and action.
The Sleepover (2020)
Boring
This film is a recent Netflix production, and unfortunately, you can tell. Many Netflix movies are pretty cliché and also a little cheesy. That doesn't necessarily only apply to this film, but unfortunately it was pretty predictable.
The basic idea is not bad, but that good kids suddenly learn that their boring mother is actually an agent/criminal etc. Is unfortunately pretty hackneyed. The movie had some funny parts from time to time and the action elements didn't miss out either, but my gaze wandered to my cell phone quite often. A lot was very predictable and somewhat unrealistic, sometimes even a bit childish. At the end there was a minor twist, but still the film could not captivate me and I will probably not watch it again 🙈
RECOMMENDATION:
It's definitely a family movie that you can watch, but you don't have to. If you like storylines like this, you can give it a chance. Maybe you'll like it better than I did, but I personally couldn't get much out of it.
Nightlife (2020)
One of my favorites!
When I first saw the film, I never thought I would like it so much. At first I thought it was just a typical German movie, in a way it is, but at the same time it stands out from the crowd with its storyline.
With a lot of humor, but also exciting scenes and a little action, the movie made it to the list of my favorite movies. The cast is great, especially since I love Frederick Lau in such funny roles, and you quickly take the characters to your heart. Definitely one of the best German films that I could watch over and over again!
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2008)
Not your typical lovestory
I watched the film because it sounded really interesting and is definitely something different. The love story that slowly develops is very unusual, so much so that it's a bit strange in places. Especially when Benjamin was very "old" and Daisy just very young.
Nevertheless, I must note that it was a really beautiful and touching story. Sometimes I got a little bored in the middle of it, but that's how I honestly feel about almost all romances and the movie isn't supposed to be thrilling.
RECOMMENDATION:
If you like touching stories and also like to cry at a movie sometimes, you will definitely like it. It's definitely something different and an extraordinary story. Definitely not your typical storyline!
