Deeply Affecting Drama
We spend our whole life in the core of relationships, and those relationships become the essence of our life, but sometimes we lose touch and start to lose the warmth of those relationships. We need to learn how to keep up relationships.
Dave Bresnahan's 'Grandpa's Crazy?' is a movie about the relationship between parents and children.
The movie is about 'Gramps' an elderly retired coach. After his retirement and his wife's sudden demise, he found himself extremely lonely. In his house where he is accompanied by just his pet dog, he has nobody to talk to or stay with him. Due to their busy work life, his children can not give him attention. After spending so many months in loneliness, he contrived an idea to pretend to get lost as a way to get his children's attention. But what is going to be next, will his idea work out or he will face any trouble?
A retired coach to popular 'Gramps', facing all the loneliness, the retired coach pretends to be lost. While taking this initiative, he met some teen boys who were practicing skateboarding. R. J, his grandson, was also part of that group of teens. The elderly coach who became a YouTuber teaching fly fishing after his retirement, started to take videos of the skateboarders, and soon he became very popular among them. They all started to call him 'Gramps' instead of 'Coach.'
An another perspective which will surely draw the attention of the viewers is the relation between the old man and his son. In the movie it was shown that his son used to be very upset with him, because when his son was a child he did not give him enough time. Now after his wife's demise, when he is asking for some time, his son is neglecting his request. The movie tried to show that the scars of childhood memories remains in the heart for the lifetime.
A skating coach: another character of the movie, which will draw the attention of the viewers is Scab, one of the young teens in the skating group, who is also a friend of R. J, and also helped R. J. learn to skate. The movie subjected the idea of child abuse in the most subtle way. Scab is an orphan, who lives with his uncle. His uncle regularly abused him physically and withheld food from him. The character has been seen extremely strong and talented in such a young age.
God! Are you there! : After not tolerating all those tortures of his uncle, scab escapees from his uncle's house and camped in the woods. Lying under a tree, looking at the sky, the twelve-year-old boy started to cry and asked - 'God, are you there, I just want a home. I just want a home.' This scene will leave the audience teary-eyed.
Plan backfires. After a few attempts, Gramps managed to get the attention of his son and daughter, but his plan turned out as a great failure. After noticing his problematic situation his son and daughter tried to declare him as 'incompetent.'
Dave Bresnahan's 'Grandpa's Crazy?', is a perfect family comedy-drama, which subjects several social issues like child abuse, elderly loneliness, teen suicidal thoughts, conflicts between father and son, and adoption of an older child. This movie has showcased the purity and warmth between an elderly couple in such a lovely way, that it will melt everyone's heart.
The story of the movie is for all age groups, where everyone will identify with the storyline. Every character carries their own story, so each viewer will find a character to identify with. The different scenes of the movie will make the audience cry, laugh, and think, and lastly make them fall in love with its story.
The movie is full of a good-looking and promising star cast. Walter Platz, who played the role of 'Gramps' did a great job. A cool coach, a stubborn father, or a lovely husband, his character is full of different emotions, which helps the movie to connect with the audience's heart.
Dave Bresnahan is the writer and producer of 'Grandpa's Crazy?'. The well-written script illustrates the common problems faced by most of the older parents fantastically. The whole story visualizes the importance of tenderness, love, and care in relationships.
'Grandpa's Crazy?' will place a strong impression on the viewer's mind. This movie is different from so-called romantic and action drama, which people will love to watch again and again. The viewers will take heartful emotions with them after watching the movie.
Reviewer to viewers: a reviewer is a viewer itself. I must say, I watched this kind of movie after a very long time. Some of the scenes leave me teary-eyed and some scenes make me feel very delighted. I can suggest the viewers watch the movie at least once to understand the value of the relationships.
The Dirty Hands Man (2021)
Masterful and Suspenseful
Imagine you went with your lover to meet her family, and that meeting turned into a mysterious murder case, what will be your take on it?
Directed by Christian Bareford and Jason Winn Bareford, this is a complete murder mystery with layers of suspense. The movie will swipe the viewers off their feet.
The story starts with a black and white context where a young boy was waiting in a dark interrogation room for the police officers to arrive. In this scene, a deep injury on the head of the boy has been shown. He was sitting on the chair covering his face. By this scene, we gonna learn that the boy has gone through mental trauma, as he looked very depressed. The story started to develop with the arrival of two police officers. They started to interrogate the young boy about last night. Jakob, the young boy, who was dismayed by the incident of last night started to describe his whole experience. That's how the story started to open up.
The story and the movie context started to turn colorful when Jakob unfolded the last night's experience. The story started to move from the dark interrogation room to a pleasant remote estate. We gonna see Jakob drive his Mercedes to a lake house, which seems elegant. Jakob and his girlfriend Kate walked to the house and discovered Kate's family. The group of youngsters was there to enjoy their vacation. There Jakob and Kate met Catarina, who seems a little irritated with Jakob. Catarina who was taking care of the house did not appreciate the sudden arrival of Jakob.
With Catarina's appearance, we will understand that everything is not as beautiful as it seems from outside. Then Jakob met Kate's brother Robert and his girlfriend Ashley and another named Shawn. Shawn was shown as cutting bark with an ax.
Jakob learned about the accident of Kate's parents when he was having a conversation with Kate and her brothers.
The group of five decided to have a drink and they sat in a circle around the fire. They started to drink in the evening and soon they got to know each other. Things were looking normal and chilling but unfortunately turned into an unfortunate accident.
This short horror story started around a clustered interrogation room and ends in a garden area, with a murder mystery, but it left several questions in the viewer's mind.
This 18-minute short horror story switch to past and present scenario a couple of time. The present scenario is where we can see a police investigation and on the other hand, the past scenario revolves around a beautiful lake house. When Jakob was interrogated about the last night's incident, the viewers were gradually allowed to take deep dive into the story. Jakob,s narration may not reveal the name of the murderer to the police but the story itself reveals the dark reality of ruthless murders to the viewers.
The concept of black and white context to a colorful scenario will draw the attention of the viewers. This visualization will help the viewers to involve from one scene to another.
The strength of the movie is the wonderful direction. Christian Bareford and Jason Winn had done a great job. The characters were shown with several layers, though it was a short story viewers will not be able to find out the truth the last point. The director and the story succeeded to keep the pace of suspense till the end.
We are sure that this movie will be a treat to the viewers who love to watch suspense thrillers.
Public Eye (2021)
A Sensational Must-See Flick!
In this day and age, we cannot live our lives without the internet. It has become an essential part of life. From the mundane day-to-day moments to the milestones and flashy achievements, we are urged to post every detail of our life on social media, with the help of the internet. To keep pace with the world, we rely on the internet. But no matter how useful it is, the internet has a bad side, too. It gives us everything, but takes away our privacy.
Davo Hardy's "Public Eye" is a deft and calculated depiction of this concept. The plot showcases the contradictions and social injustices of everyday online activity, reminding us all that the dark side of the internet is never far-removed from any well-intentioned Google search. Moreover, as the story unfolds, we see how online complacency and the anonymity of keyboard warriors can it ruin a life.
SYNOPSIS: the movie tells the story of Elliott Sinclair; the face of a famous child show named Edukidz.
Everything seems normal - The opening scene of the movie shows that Elliott has a lovely wife and a sixteen-year-old boy. For the most part, Elliott seems to have everything; a happy family and a super balanced work-life, that he is enjoying.
I got offered a role - as the story develops, Elliott gets offered a role in a movie, wherein the script says he has to to do a nude scene. After some soul-searching, Elliott concludes that he is comfortable enough to accept the role, but as soon as he shares this news with his family, he faces some harsh opposition over his decision. His father, among other family members, is horrified; comparing the opportunity to a degrading exploitation. Elliott is perturbed by the conviction and polarity his family's opinions, balanced by the full support of his wife, which emphasizes their healthy relationship.
My world goes upside down - after having an argument with his father, Elliott retreats to his bedroom and concludes the evening with some stress-relief; whereby he proceeds to watch porn online and finds himself recorded by the site. In the moment, Elliott simply ignores the matter, thinking that his video will hardly be noticed by anybody, in the vast expanse of the internet. But by the next morning, it has spread everywhere. Every social media site has his video and it continues to circulate as anonymous, defamatory clickbait. This simply demolishes Elliott's life. He gets criticized by so-called social activists, his work colleagues and even his own father, who is practically overwhelmed with self-righteous "I told you so" energy. Elliott's family is humiliated and the ripple-effect continues on and on. At one point in the movie, as things spiral out of control, a random person is duped by online trolls and coerced into attacking Elliott's wife. By this point, the family already has hired security, but the assailant still manages to invade the household.
Fame is evil - Before long, Elliott finds himself with nothing to lose. With the loss of his image, gained over a lifetime, he sets about countering all the online hatred with hashtags and positive social media posts; in a bid to drown out the trolling. The whole time, it is made clear how easily the public can forget virtues and focus purely on the accusations.
Capping off the solid storyline, the movie has a top-notch ending, which will surely move the audience's mind. Sometimes we got fascinated by the fame that is given by the different social media platforms, but most are not prepared for the cost of that fame.
ANALYSIS: Davo Hardy's "Public Eye" elucidated an extremely sensitive topic. In every aspect of the story, the internet is framed as a beacon of uncensored expression, boundless validation and sinister dangling carrots. Boasting a diverse and talented cast, the concepts of bisexuality and desire, sexual pleasure, fascinations of adolescence and the fickle search for fame are explored in rich detail. This makes the movie unique and very, very watch-worthy.
"Public Eye" showcases writer/director Davo Hardy's eccentric creative skill. There are so many movies that have been created around this concept, but this movie will surely create its own cult following for its storyline and Davo Hardy's unconventional directing style.
All the actors carried the plot in a genuine way. However, the protagonist, Elliott Sinclair, played by Davo Hardy himself, is the backbone of the story. The whole journey revolves around his character, and I must say Davo Hardy has performed the character in the most promising and authentic way.
The movie runs for almost two hours, and the audience will be glued to it for its natural and captivating storytelling. The experience will not only serve to entertain but it also delivers a strong message to society about the harsh side of the internet. For moviegoers who enjoy deep-dives into knowledge and a balanced debate on a heated topic, this movie comes highly recommended.
