The low production costs are evident
14 September 2010
Overall the story is good, and the plot is believable, but other than that it seems to have been produced by amateurs. Writing was horrible at best.

Acting is well, obviously pushed. Who played Lindsay's brother. Really? That's the best they could have done? And her mother? I am guessing she has zero acting history. Chemistry was not there.

But with a low budget you rarely get quality talent. In some of the scenes I don't think they even used a sound engineer. The echo and background noises are right there.

I wanted to write a better review, but just couldn't lie.

The Cure (1995)

Awesome Story, Incredible Production
14 March 2005
I remember when this film came out, and watched it a few times on VHS. I was so glad when it was FINALLY released on DVD. I was hoping for widescreen, but at the point would take what was available. I love how they used color in the film, the outdoor scenes are so alive with color. The trees are the greenest I've ever seen. Most of the film was shot in Stillwater, Minnesota, a beautiful town located on the St. Croix River. They must have really scouted locations for filming, because they did a great job. The story is well written, and directed. I would rate this as one of Peter Horton's best. I'm also surprised that Andrew Dintenfass (the director of photography) hasn't done more. He did an incredible job. The acting also rates up there. It's amazing to see two actors of such a young age pull off this type of film. Annabella Sciorra did a great job as Dexter's mother. Who wouldn't want her as a mother.

An American in Prague (1997 Video)

Simply incredible

I must admit that I would have kicked myself if I didn't purchase this DVD. Bel Ami has never failed me, and has always had the best in actors and production values. High quality video, great lighting..and so on.

This story is where Chance, a visiting American, meets up with Johan at the airport. The two quickly bond and a friendship begins. Thrown into the mix are other small short stories, where the two boys are somehow involved. There are a lot of montages of them touring Prague, seeing the sites, which I will admit looks like a very beautiful city. There is also a lot of bonus material on the DVD. There is a short solo of Chance, lots of video stills, and even "bloober outtakes"

Mind Prey (1999 TV Movie)
Awful Awful Awful
4 June 2004
Having read many books from the "Prey" series, I was looking forward to see how it would be transferred to the small screen, but ended up extremely disappointed with how this movie was done. Lucas Davenport from the movie was nothing like the Lucas Davenport in the book. The book was written using very specific locations in Minneapolis, where as the movie used boring, generic "Holly-ronto" locations.

And the acting...you could tell that they probably spent most of the budget for donuts and coffee! I would like to see some of the other "Prey" books transfered to the screen, but HELLO! lets try to do a better job!
