No One Will Save You (2023)
Excellent movie but ruined by the lack of dialogue
The screenplay, casting and wardrobe certainly deserves respect. The protagonist, her attire etc was perfect. You just can't help but feel pity for her and the clothes she wears make her seem so innocent and fragile. Seeing that running away from murderous aliens is really good. But dialogues were non existent. There was plenty of action but dialogues are what makes a movie in my opinion. If it's a short film it would be fine but this is a full length film. The lack of dialogues is the only reason I'm rating this 6 stars or it would be a 8 or even 9. The story is nice and the action scenes are amazing.
Jailer (2023)
Excellent story, bad acting
It's an interesting story but Rajinikanth's acting is unbearable not because he is bad at acting but he has reached a point where ppl have seen all his moves and emotions and age has its effects on people and it's certainly did a number on Rajinikanth.
You have to give it to him for deviating from the norm of trying to play a young man to being a retired grandfather in this movie but its like watching Stallone or Arnold in expendables... at some point it's not believable when an old timer beats bad guys up.
The other "co heroes" were great, especially Mohan Lal, looked real cool. The movie I would say is watchable but not believable.
It Lives Inside (2023)
Very good plot but it failed
It's a solid story, I've always been curious about Hindu mythology and even have spoken that someone should make a movie out of those creatures. There are plenty and the Pisascha is one of the scarier ones.
But the movie was not scary bcs they refused to show the evil creature properly till the last bit of the movie and it ended up looking like Pumpkinhead but only far less scarier. Think of it as pumpkindhead's deformed cousin. The refusal to show the monster was the downfall of this movie. Also, the scenes where the actors try to escape this creature is extremely annoying. It's like they are unnaturally handicapped during the scenes, everyone loses their bipedal abilities and starts crawling when the creature decides to attack them.
And the chanting is overused to a point it's comical. But the story is nice and I like how it ended.
Varisu (2023)
Just another garbage Vijay movie
It's just the same nonsense with Vijay. He being the best fighter, son, lover, brother, businessman and all. Some of the scene are utterly comical. The story is so ridiculous. He even had SJ surya make a cameo, I guess because he know the movie is unbearable. Vijay's acting as usual has nothing much to offer. I'm certain scene I found myself laughing at his nonsense. The had a whole fight sequence with his brother just sitting on the floor, the rest of his ppl just standing idly while Vijay beats the living hell out of the villain on his own. He is literally hanging on to his fame that he earned earlier with his weird masala movies.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022)
Nothing special, boring, one of the worst marvel movie.
As usual we are back in Wakanda. Where they are far superior than the western world and this movie forces to make everyone understand that. The first Black panther movie didn't deserve an Oscar but it is far better than this one. The movie basically has women leads so automatically critics are praising it. The story wasn't interesting. It's close to unbearable and fails to keep you focused. But they put a bumbling white guy who clearly is submissive to the Wakandans and basically plays a goofball and a stooge so that should probably put this movie on top of most positive lists. Who knows maybe an Oscar or two...
Carnifex (2022)
Terrible movie, it's Creature feature with no creature present.
This isn't a monster movie. The monster gets practically no screen time. It's just 3 weirdos. A weak white dude, a strong white women and a strong black women for diversity. They travel thru the jungle and preach just like every modern movie. There is nothing scary or interesting. Instead of showing you the "monster" they chose to pan the camera to the faces of the three stooges who, in my opinion can't act. It's just a mess. What's the point of a creature feature if there is no creature on screen?
The only time anyone should watch this movie is when they've just had surgery on both eyes and can't see anything.
Kuntilanak 3 (2022)
Harry Potter type of movie
This movie deviates from the whole franchise. It's almost a Harry Potter movie with Indonesian characters. It comes complete with professors and wands. It's like if X-men and Harry Potter movies had an illegitimate child. The movie is goofy at the best. With ppl casting spells and shooting magic etc. There is nothing much frightening in the movie. Kuntilanak 1 was creative and scary. This move can't hold a candle to it. I would say it's a real let down.
The ending is a literally joke with horrible acting. There is even a scene where the "Dementor's kiss" from Harry Potter is clearly copied. For those who are expecting a movie similar to the previous ones my advise is to steer clear.
The Pyramid (2014)
The Heroine is desperately trying to die
This movie will have you hate the heroine. She has no sense of urgency even as a jackal-man beast looking god that just straight ripped her dad's heart out and place it on a scale is pursuing her. If you're the type of person who can bear to watch an extreme emotional person who just ruins every chance to escape a monster this movie is for you. She just wants to die and has no problem showing it off on screen.
The story overall is pretty decent. Plenty of cliche. Acting was just enough to pass. CGI looks cartoonish. A couple of jump scares. The characters were really bad. No one seems to be in a triple digit IQ.
