I LIked It Until ABC Took It Over
4 May 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Prior seasons were good. Nice mix of action and character side stories. But now? Pure rubbish. The 3 part season opener was good, even if it was Poseidan rehashed. But the eposides since? Too much soap, not enough fire/rescue action. And making Buck gay after multiple seasons of him chasing women and having long term relationships (although he had a committment problem)? Totally unbelievable. And totally unneccessary. I doubt I'll continue to watch the show. ABC has ruined it for me. Sure, 911 Lonestar is over the top sometimes, but it works for Lonestar. Lonestar is playing up to the absurd Texas myths and the show doesn't take itself seriously anyway.

Excellent!
1 March 2024
I've never watched the Maltese Falcon although I'm familiar with the basics and I've seen clips. So I'm simply rating this show as a stand alone, non-sequel series. IT'S EXCELLENT.

I love Clive's American accent (it's so good I had to google him to make sure he wasn't an American actor). From the little bit of TMF I've seen in clips, Clive channels Bogart's Spade but also add his own spin. Which makes sense, since Spade is now older and wiser so some changes are to be expected.

The plot is good and engaging, characters are interesting, scenery is beautiful. Please, please, please make a season2!!

Good Show, Great Characters
8 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I started binge watching this show a few weeks ago, having missed it when it originally aired. The first season had me rolling my eyes constantly regarding details and Jordan's overall attitude. Fortunately the overall plots and supporting characters were good so I stuck it out. I'm glad I did. The writers allowed the main characters to mature and "grow up" over time, while still remaining friends and ultimately family to each other. I hate that they wrote Jordan's father out in later seasons as their early relationship was good to watch and added to the storyline. It's well worth a binge watch.

Worth Watching Even If You Haven't Read the Books
12 December 2023
First off, I've never read any of the books, although I have heard of the author and the main character. So, I'm reviewing this as just a TV show. It's great. Action scenes are good, plots are good, characters are well developed. Pace is quick but not too quick. Well written, which isn't always the case with an action show (since some writers get lazy and rely on the action to fill the time and not the talking). I'm hooked and looking forward to watching Season 2. Given that the TV show is accurate to the books, I can see why friends are saying Cruise was bad casting. He can't hold a candle to Ritchson. Now I can't decide which action actor I like better - Christian Kane or Alan Ritchson.

Would Be Better With Some Cast Changes
5 December 2023
The premise of NCIS:Sydney is good, and offers potential for crossovers with NCIS and NCIS:Hawaii. But the casting sucks. Get rid of Mackey and Cooper and it might be a decent show. Those two have to be the most unlikeable female characters on TV right now. The tech geek and the ME are a hoot. I'd love to see more of them.

As for saying it's time for Austalia to be showcased for more than reality TV, does no one watch Acorn or BritBox? There are a lot of good Australian based shows. The Heart Guy immediately comes to mind, along with North Shore and One Night. And being the most watched CBS premier this year? That wasn't hard to do. It's pretty much the ONLY premier so far, thanks to the strikes.

LOVE This Show
1 February 2023
I've always been a fan of Nathan Fillon, so of course I had to check out this show. I gave up half way thru the first episode, thinking the training officers were arrogant jerks. And Nathan's character was quiet and retiring - not the role I'm used to seeing Fillon in. Fortunately a friend told me to give it 2-3 episodes before giving up. I followed his advice and now I'm hooked. The writers have done a really good job of creating a likeable and interesting cast of characters. Acting is also good. My favorite part is the opening scene now - so wry, so amusing! The cross over episodes with The Rookie Feds are usually good too.

First Season Was Good
31 January 2023
Cute show for the first season. I liked the goofy banter between the guys. Then they added Catherine. Why? There is no real chemistry between her and the guys. If they HAD to add a designer, then at least limit her to the second part of the show and only the interior decor. I really don't get why producers took a good show from season one and ruined it in season two. It did a good job though of showcasing the natural beauty of Vancouver. I do have one question though, what is it with box houses that look like firestations in Vancouver? That's what a lot of the "new build" houses looked like. A boxy fire station.

Chicago Med (2015– )

If it weren't for some of the eye candy, it wouldn't be worth watching at all.
26 September 2022
I started binge watching Chicago Med earlier this month, since I was all caught up on my regular shows. I needed something to fill the void for a couple of weeks. I landed on Chicago Med. This show is a farce. I know medical shows are rarely accurate, but this is the worst one by far. It's a rare episode where they don't lose at least one patient. Given that there are usually only 2-4 patient storylines per episode, that's a pretty high death rate for a hospital. Heck, Code Black didn't even lose patients at that rate and CB was about an emergency room stretched beyond it's capacity! The first few seasons weren't bad, Drs Rhodes and Charles are good characters, as is Sharon Goodwin and Nurse Maggie. But the rest of them? Not so much. Natalie is the worst. But what's most annoying to me is how the doctors and nurses continue to ignore advance directives they don't agree with. It's to the point now that I'm seriously considering consulting with an attorney to make sure I have an iron clad directive that no doctor can overrule in real life. This show is great if you want an emotional, hysterical medical soap drama. But if you like even a semblance of normalicy and reality in your shows, skip this one.

Doogie Howser, M.D. (1989–1993)
5/10
Cute When It Originally Aired, Creepy Now
19 February 2022
You really don't realize just how much our collective consciousness has changed until you watch some of the 80s-90s shows and cringe. Doogie Howser is no exception. I love NPH in this role, he was perfect for it. But some of the storylines wouldn't work in today's environment. Like the episodes where much older women come on to Doogie, even though in the original storyline it was probably meant to be amusing. Now it's downright creepy. Then there's Max, the constantly thinking of sex next door neighbor. Funny back then, but now comes across as a potential later-in-life sexual predator. Some shows age well (think Friends) but not Doogie. If you want to see NPH, watch How I Met Your Mother instead.
