Confused does not equal profound
25 January 2014
Warning: Spoilers
The immediate difficulty with this film (and perhaps it might be my television), is the lack of 'redness' in the protagonists' red hair. Lacking that singular feature upon which much of the angst is based, the movie is flatter than last Tuesday's Ginger Ale.

It's a nice ride at times, but the absolute lack of cohesion, rather than contributing to an anarchic or devilish tone, merely spreads itself like melting butter: not attractively, pointless and ultimately unpalatable. Basically, I was left with the Cosmic Question: "Who cares?" So much appeared forced. The most awkwardly obvious 'artistic' endeavour was the injection of bouncing, female breasts. Perhaps shocking or titillating, but cleverly balanced by sticking a fat, little, VERY young outsider of a female to watch the proceedings. She appeared as bored and uninterested as the audience probably was.

A solid, imperial miss. Of the target. It can be enigmatic when the audience is teased with an element of "What the hell is really going on?" but when the Director doesn't seem to know, it's simply fatal.

Pointless waste of time.
9 January 2006
Blech! Ms. Hewitt demonstrates more cleavage than talent and an enormous assortment of bras.

The plot is pointlessly humorless: set piece after set piece. . .each less amusing than the previous. Some films are so bad they're funny, but this is one is so bad it's more than a waste of time; say rather it is about as much fun as passing pencils.

This was on the movie channel one rainy morning and there was nothing else to watch. Frankly, I considered going out to mow the lawn at the ten minute mark, but I didn't want to hurt the lawn-mower.

Pass.

Man in a Suitcase (1967–1968)
Excellent 60s PI series in International locations
22 July 2005
"Man in a Suitcase" is easily one of the best series from the 60s. McGill, the antihero, played brilliantly by Richard Bradford is a disgraced American Intelligence type who hires out to do complex private eye work.

The writing (and Bradford's acting) was top-notch and the supporting cast was always excellent. It was the first series to be both 'gritty' and 'believable,' in the sense that McGill didn't always win, and if he got cold-cocked, he usually stayed down. :-) Definitely worth a look.

My favorite episode (going on memory here): a 2-parter called "In Pursuit of a Million Bucks." The title says it all.
