Meet You in Scotland (2023 TV Movie)
1/10
The Scottish Locations are the Only Saving Grace, but don't Waste Your Time
31 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I tried, but I couldn't make myself watch to the end even with all the pretty scenery. I think I watched about 10-15 minutes till I just gave up.

The female protagonist, Jen Oakley is just straight up shady. There is a bit of false advertising regarding the plot that was released by the studio. It reads that the dashing Scottish poet mistakes Jen Oakley for a famous novelist. No, the mistake happens at the airport when a worker assumes that Jen Oakley is the famous novelist Liz Harvii, so Jen just goes with it and continues the lie. I know mistaken identity is a common trope in films, but come on.

It doesn't make sense that the writer(s) created a 20-something character that pretends to be someone who is 30-40 years older when they don't physically appear that way. Secondary characters kept repeating that they thought the character Liz Harvii, the novelist was older. It just makes the so called fans of the novelist seem like complete buffoons. Even if you don't know what the novelist looks like, you can deduce that Jen Oakley's character is a fraud.

As for the dashing Scottish poet, James MacDuff, this character is far from dashing. He seems like a curmudgeon old man. Yes, I know by the end of this movie the two leads are supposed to fall madly in love with each other, but I ask why? Jen Oakley is beyond irritating. Her whole character just turned me off.

Kendall WTH????
3 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This is one of the better Hallmark style movies out there. Nice location, semi-warm chemistry between the leads, but same old formula used in these type of romance movies. The two leads wind up liking each other; someone's spouse usually is dead; first kiss is interrupted; there is always a misunderstanding because the protagonists are written to not have any commonsense to find out the truth to the story; and magically they fall in love at the end. The thing I didn't like was that Kendall didn't even apologize to Zack when she found out the truth about what Zack was going to do to her father's boat. That totally left a bad taste in my mouth. So, that's why I gave this movie a somewhat low score. If the writers had cleaned up the finale a little bit I would have given this movie a higher score.

Typical Vampire Movie I Had High Hopes For
18 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I thought this was going to be a little bit better than the usual vampire movies, but it's the same old drivel. Why is it that most of the vampire movies follow the same old formula of a centuries old or decades old experienced vampire getting taken out by some vampire hunter or a newbie vampire? Come on now? You're going to tell me that all of a sudden the vampires Louise, Charlotte and Nora who have been killing humans without a second thought are now going to get sloppy and sentimental. Okay, I can understand Charlotte feeling wistful and nostalgic because she was once a mother, but I'm not buying that from the other vampires. I mean Louise should know better, she's centuries old and well Nora is just a straight up psycho who lacks self control. The writer made these vampires super flaky!

What's with Louise's obsession with Lena? Her eyes? Well, that could have been explained better. A scene could have been added to show Louise in the past with her Lena look-a-like. Also, why is Tom the hotshot young cop interested in Lena? When they have a little chat on the bridge Lena looks like a nasty guttersnipe. Karoline Herfurth who plays the character of Lena is pretty cute in real life, it just seems the buddying relationship between Tom and Lena is really forced. Why would he be interested in a grungy druggy with zero personality?

Nice shots of Berlin, high fashion and expensive cars can't save this tired flick.

A Possible Quirky and Endearing Film Turned Creepy
15 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I'm going to keep this short. This movie started out okay, using the trope of a shy, insecure person falling for someone who is somewhat attractive, confident and not from their private sphere. I can understand Doris having a crush on the new guy John at her place of employment, but then Doris' actions became so dysfunctional and cringey that it made it hard for me to continue to rally for her character. Doris just became this sad, creepy, stalky, weirdo, stalking John around on Facebook, around town, asking him out to lunch and then posting that weird lovesick note on his FB account. I love Sally Field's past work, but this was just YUCK....
