I tried, but I couldn't make myself watch to the end even with all the pretty scenery. I think I watched about 10-15 minutes till I just gave up.
The female protagonist, Jen Oakley is just straight up shady. There is a bit of false advertising regarding the plot that was released by the studio. It reads that the dashing Scottish poet mistakes Jen Oakley for a famous novelist. No, the mistake happens at the airport when a worker assumes that Jen Oakley is the famous novelist Liz Harvii, so Jen just goes with it and continues the lie. I know mistaken identity is a common trope in films, but come on.
It doesn't make sense that the writer(s) created a 20-something character that pretends to be someone who is 30-40 years older when they don't physically appear that way. Secondary characters kept repeating that they thought the character Liz Harvii, the novelist was older. It just makes the so called fans of the novelist seem like complete buffoons. Even if you don't know what the novelist looks like, you can deduce that Jen Oakley's character is a fraud.
As for the dashing Scottish poet, James MacDuff, this character is far from dashing. He seems like a curmudgeon old man. Yes, I know by the end of this movie the two leads are supposed to fall madly in love with each other, but I ask why? Jen Oakley is beyond irritating. Her whole character just turned me off.
