Il miglior film di Batman
26 April 2022

Buona struttura narrativa, molto pasoliniano
5 March 2022

Masterpiece, without doubt
1 March 2022
Kurosawa realizes a perfect picture of the complexity of the human beigs and he does it without judging. This movie shows the molteplicity of the point of views and all the faces of reality.

Moreover, he fulfills this message with a great narrative structure. In the end there's also an hopeful message that brings some light in the greys of the movie.

What a Classic!
1 March 2022
The perfect picture of the classic Hollywood with some touch of new, like the great performance of Marlon Brando.

What surprises is the fact that the whole story takes place in a house, except some little sequences. So, it's a great psychological drama with two characters with an unbelievable intensity. It's a diving inside two difficult human beings.

One of the best story ever written.

Great dramatic movie and great directing!
24 February 2022
This movie is great: it gathers a lot of intensity and power that go through the spectator. Mathieu Amalric in the directing did an extraordinaire work: the plot, the shots, the editing...real great stuff.

He created a movie that deserves a lot of credit. It's common to find a film that has a great story and an ambitious use of the skills to tell the story itself.

Don't miss it!

A touching russian road movie
22 February 2022
That's a great film. Defintely. There is the classic themes of a road movie with all sorrounded by a melancholic atmosphere. The two main characters are alone and in their loneliness they find each other.

The directing choices are great with some moments that remind Tarkovskij's films. The director brings you perfectly through the spiritual trip of the main character that becomes also a spiritual trip for the audience.

Great movie but with some defects
21 February 2022
The story is great and it has a lot of intensity. No doubt about the fact that this is a classic, a great movie to watch.

But there are also some directing defects: two of them are bigger than the others. The first hour is a bit too slow and the end of the story is too compressed (10 minutes plus would be worth)...in this way we don't understand where truly the characters are gong leaving open some scenarios.

Said that,a great movie.

Classic Noir
21 February 2022
This film is what a noir film sound be. The dark and dreamlike atmosphere, a precise use of lights, a strange murder, the type of characters...and Preminger is a great director.

The story is really well written and the film goes on without incidents.

Timeless Western
18 February 2022
Maybe the first great Western. Perfect plot and, beyond the story itself, also a road movie: at the end of the film every character improves and understand something more about his life.

It's a great picture also for whom doesn't like the genre.

Then there are John Wayne and John Ford behind the camera: an insurance of greatness.

Classic comedy

The clear example of comedy in the Thirties. Rally fast rhythm, overlapping dialogue, an infinite series of accidents and a great and beautiful Katharine Hepburn.

A perfect crime film
15 February 2022
The sound is arrived from some years, but it seems that Lang has used it for a century. Perfect use of sound with all his capabilities. The structure of the film is perfect: a masterpiece!

This is a clear example of great crime movie when I will think about this genre.

Gothic and surreal
11 February 2022
Fully transposition of Edgar Allan Poe's tale. Epstein gives to it a very gothic touch with almost the absence of dialogues, the foggy shots and the several ralenti sequences.

It's clear in the script the hand of Luis Bunuel that gives to the movie all the surreal atmosphere.

What a directing!
11 February 2022
This is truly a masterpiece: this movie gives a sense of anguish and pain almost unthinkable.

Maria Falconetti is extraordinarie and the directing choices are so great: close shots, intense dialogues, no make-up, lack of scenography...every shot is so full of energy.

A film to watch and re-watch.

Masterpiece
9 February 2022
The first half an hour is perfect: there's all the directing and editing tecnique Ejzenstejn is capable of. Then the movie loses a bit of strenght, but it remains great.

A lesson in how you have to do editing.

A piece of History
7 February 2022
What a directing for the 1927! Split screen, overlays, frequent use of hand-held camera and many others directing skills.

The lenght is the only defect, especially the part from 3 h to 4:45 h.

The first half is really iconic like the final part with the great battle.

A milestone to watch for whom is addicted to cinema.

A classic Farhadi
6 February 2022
A Farhadi's film is never disappointing: you'll find everything of the iranian director's typical style. The pride theme, a complex web of human beings and the thin border between the right and the unright.

Tecnically, as usual, there are a clean directing and a powerful and rich script.

For being fussy, past an hour and an half, some sequences (about 10/15 minutes could have been cut), but it reamins a great movie to watch.

A thin humour, not for everyone
4 February 2022
It's not a typical kind of humour: in it there is also a glance of melancholy and it gathers outcast characters showing all their fragilities.

The movie is composed by 39 shots and each of them is a sequence. That fact sometimes makes the movie a little too slow.

The scenography and the directorial cut of every shot are very interesting. Often they remind Wes Anderson's shots.

This film is not an immediate view.

Extraordinaire
2 February 2022
This film is perfect: there are all the Morricone's genius and all his love for Music. This film is great in taking the spectator inside his composition and his works with the presence of several sequences of the films with Morricone's soundtracks.

Some moments and some sequences are heartbreaking for whom loves cinema.

What else? You have to watch it. And all it could be possibile thanks to the huge work made by Tornatore. Thanks for this.
