Thriller: The Return of Andrew Bentley (1961)
the BEST ?
This is my personal favorite out of all the episodes in the series- which is not an easy task to select !
I don't know where to begin,citing the myriad traits of a perfect ghost or horror tale,if you will;
John Newland is simply superb...and you have,to boot,a stellar supporting cast such as Oscar Beregi,for example,as the intrepid minister;
Music is appropriate and the ambiance is top notch ! For its the mood which compels one to revisit this overlooked classic.
The special effects are fine for the time and the sounds emitted in combo provoke a particular chill;and the black and white cinematography is just right.
The pace is splendid and never flags-it keeps building towards some type of crescendo of pure evil... and,yet,how delicious when our tale ends with logical resolution so we might get on with a possible good night's rest...or a diverting dream...or...?

Garden of Evil (1954)
Terrific !
This flick i remember when i was a kid in the fifties and so it has stuck w\me all these years...
I am totally bias when it comes to this Western gem,for i see it as special and original in its own right !
Pure adventure w\its exotic locales in Mexico and the music of Bernie Herrmann is unsurpassed !
Widmark I would single out as the glue of this yarn and Coop & Hayward are more than adequate;
It is majestic in scope & breath and I personally opine that it is the greatest of all exotic(the look)Westerns ever filmed !
There is a moral here and it just further enhances this dusky jewel....

The Janitor (2003)
I liked it.
It was a lot better than I expected. The dark comedy was great, and there was also the type of humor that I think mainstream audiences would enjoy as well. This movie can be compared to Troma films because of all the sex and violence, but in my opinion, The Janitor seems to have more style than a Troma film would. Some of the shots and angles and such are really creative, and the editing was quite smooth. By some of the choices made with music and characters and whatnot, you could tell that one of the directors was influenced by the Coen Brothers. The Troma influence is probably a lot more obvious. Hell, Lloyd Kaufman even shows up as a bum...with a Troma poster on the dumpster he lives by. And with the line "That's my right leg!" which some punk yells after the janitor rips his leg off, there's another apparent Troma connection...in Toxic Avenger 4, the same line is yelled by a guy who gets HIS right leg ripped off. For a first feature, these guys show a lot of professionalism in their work. Fans of horror/comedy should definitely check this movie out!
