A Noiva (2007)
A Noiva short film
I saw this film at its premiere in Oporto. This is a really cool looking independent horror short film, about a couple who is haunted by the ghost of a bride. This short film is actually the opening scene for a feature film. It sets a great ambiance - its soundtrack is great and has a terrific photography. The film is loosely based on 'Twin Peaks' and the slasher genre. One thing I didn't like was that the film left the feeling that there was a lot yet to be told. Maybe this would change in the feature film. I think I never saw a slasher movie with a murderous bride, and there are little films in the genre with a female stalker, so this looked like a pretty funny idea even though this is a non-comical movie.
I'll See You in My Dreams (2003)
Great movie!
This is an excellent short film! Too bad they haven't done a feature out of it! This is a fast-paced, funny horror short film with a cool hero and lots of zombies. Beside being a great mix of fun and terror, this movie is technically very well done. The movie tells of a lonely man who lives in a town with more zombies than humans, who everyday kills the undead and gets drunk at the local bar. It is a shame that there aren't more titles like this in Portuguese filmography. Filipe Melo pulled a great job producing this film and I look forward to see his next project, 'Dog Mendonza'. THe only flaw is Sofia Aparicio's performance - definitely, models shouldn'tact. Ever!
