Maaveeran (2023)
Shines in the 1st Half but not so much in the 2nd Half
MAAVEERAN:
This was a really fun, beautiful film. The making was 💯💯 especially that climax cinematography. The acting was great and to me, Myskkin was a surprise. All the BGMs have that folk dance vibe which made me wanna dance, especially the climax BGM. While the 1st half was filled with comedy, the 2nd half gets less comical and more fun (in terms of dialogues and situations). But, the ending didn't feel that good to me.
The female lead only plays the role of most female leads in hero-led movies, which is to give the hero that motivational speech which makes him go rogue.
Still, a solid 8.5/10.
Jug Jugg Jeeyo (2022)
A beautiful, comedy drama with a not-so-good music album.
This movie is a beautiful one. Its one that fills your heart with joy at the end of it. The story is something I've not seen before and that made it really interesting. The performances from Varun, Anil Kapoor and Neetu Singh were outstanding with Kiara and Manish Paul in 2nd position because I didn't feel they did some scenes well. The climax of the film was good but I'm pretty sure that a person could get fined for such a scene (in real life). When I come to the music of the film, the only song I felt was good was Naach Punjaaban (even though it was a remake). So, to conclude, this is a beautiful movie that you can see with your family with exceptional performances from the cast.
Twenty One Grams (2022)
Captivating thriller with an edge-of-the-seat climax.
This movie starts like any other investigation thriller with the police investigating a murder and proceeding further in the investigation to gather clues and find new suspects and witnesses. But, what makes this movie different in the last 20-25 mins. The last 25 mins will make your mind boggle until it finally reaches its conclusion. The last 25 mins is what makes this film a great thriller film.
When it comes to the acting part, most of the people have done their part well. The camera work of the movie is also really good.
Don (2022)
Fun ride if you don't mind the story.
The first half of the movie talks about the college life of Chakravarthi aka DON (SK). It was a really engaging first half with great jokes and excellent dialogue deliveries from everyone, especially SK and SJ Suryah. SK lives the life of Chakravarthi while SJ Suryah shines in his negative shade. The second half is mostly emotional. The climax (before the final scene) was the best part of the movie. SK excels in his performance in that climax scene. The only negative for the movie was that the story was kinda predictable. The music album has been exceptionally composed by Anirudh, especially that BGM in the climax scene. The dance steps of the songs weren't that good but it does not create an issue if you're just listening to the song. Overall, the movie was a great theatre watch.
Night Drive (2022)
An engaging thriller with great performances.
The movie starts off well by introducing all the characters and the 1st half hour of the movie is focussed mainly on the relationship between Georgy (Roshan) and Riya (Anna). So, after the 1st half an hour we get to the main plot and it might seem clichè but it will not disappoint you if you watch it till the end. The twists we re well executed. To me, there were no negatives to this film apart from a small, tiny buildup-like scene in the climax.
Kolaigaran (2019)
A short, beautiful murder mystery.
The movie begins with a scene where a girl is murdered by man (shown blurryily). So, the first 20-25 minutes of the movie was pretty boring. But, the last 30 minutes is full of twists that will keep you at the edge of your seat (atleasy it made me). The twist was really good, even though the movie got off to shaky (literally-the camera at times) start. The sequemces are really confusing at first but as you wait to see the climax, the confusion is all cleared up. The songs were unnecessary. At the end, the movie emds on a good note.
Adbhutham (2021)
Unexpectedly Good
I went into this movie knowing nothing about it except a poster. Was I shocked when I started watching it? Yes I was. I really loved the movie. The communication between the two characters was really good. The acting was a bit dramatic at first but eventually it turned out to be good. The story became a little , a little predictable once the time travel concept came in but it defied expdctations withing the last 20 minutes. The only lettdown I felt in this movie were the songsm it seemed like two people speaking (yes, thats the whole thing in the movie), but didn't feel musical. The BGM was really good, especially towards the climax. To conclude I think this is a great movie for people of all ages.
