Watcher (I) (2022)

Suspense throughout the film
30 January 2024
Watcher is a really suspenseful thriller. Throughout the film I felt really engaged from the tone throughout the scenes. The actor did a great job implementing the feel of fear and paranoia to the audience through her performance. The eerie music also played a role in making this film a great watch for me. The films cinematography added the thrill and anxious feeling which is a key in a psychological thriller film. Also, The films pacing was on point and perfectly executed. Watcher is a must watch for any phycholocical thriller movie fans and is sure to have you feeling anxious and uneasy until the end of the film which I thought was unfeasible and ridiculous!!!

Hell Fest (2018)

HELL FEST
13 July 2023
A typical slasher. The film had some great scenes and moments. The music enhanched the tense scenes. The film had lots of jump scares but only a few were non predictable. One scene looked quite familer to a scene from Halloween (2018) specifically the washroom scene which I thought was a cheesy rip off. Characters as well as the cinematography were good. Tony Todd was a nice surprise appearance to the film and did a good job with his role.

Overall the film was nothing special. Hell fest is a one and done film for me. The ending of the film sets up for a sequel which in my opinion is not really necessary.

Scream VI (2023)

SCREAM 6
13 July 2023
Scream 6 is slightly better than Scream (2022). The tone is more darker and the kills are more bloodier. One negative point on this film is that the ending of this film was such a disappointment to me. My engagement in the film was lost after the revealing of who ghostface was.

Scream 6 is a descent slasher film. Although the story in this film and the ending was a negative point for me, the violence and gore and what looked like a more sinister ghostface was a plus. It enhanced my engagement throughout the film and made me want to see more.

Overall the film was not great, but deserves to be seen or two.

Great film
13 September 2022
I really enjoyed watching this film. Everything in this film was brilliant. The plot was done well and was quite engaging. The cast did a fantastic job with their roles especially Amber Midthunder who plays main protagonist in the film. Amber Midthunder was incredible throughout the fight scenes between herself and the predator. The design for the predator was also great as well as the CGI in many scenes. Cinematography throughout the film was incredible showcasing the beautiful setting. Prey was a enjoyable film. A well made prequal and a awesome addition to the predator francise. A fantastic job from Dan Trachtenberg.

Enjoyable
12 September 2022
Predators was a very entertaining, enjoyable film to watch. The action in the film was great as well as the effects throughout the film. The cast did a wonderful job with their roles. The chemistry between the cast enhanched the engagment for the film. A simple plot, but executed perfectly. The setting for the film was great and the descision to have more than one predator hunting for prey makes the film even more entertaining and intense. Predators was quite suspensful throughout the film. Predators is a great addition to the francise and a must watch exciting, suspenseful sci-fi thriller. A well made film that fans can appreciate.

Less Engaged
11 September 2022
AVP Requiem was a less engaging experience than the first AVP film. Although both films have their ups and downs, the terrible acting from the cast in this film was awful and made me disinterested throughout the film. The action was less captivating and uninteresting. The battle between predator and alien in the first AVP film was more engaging than Requiem. Although the film was less engaging to me, I enjoyed the design for the predalien and predator. The effects throughout the film were excellent as well. AVP Requiem in my opinion is a forgettable film in the franchise, but a nice attempt to bring the two together to battle for supremacy once again.

The Batman
18 April 2022
The Batman was quite an interesting film. The main focus of this film is the revealing of a corrupted Gotham. Robert Pattinson did a wonderful job portraying Batman. Paul Dano playing a more sadistic Riddler was also excellent. The first act in the film was a bit unengaging at times, but the build towards acts 2 and 3 was well done. The Batman was a good film, but the length of the film was unreasonably long.

Moon
10 April 2022
Moon was a fantastic film that was very engaging. Sam Rockwell did an excellent job in his leading role throughout the film. I was expecting this film to be more of a sci-fi film, but the film was more of a space odyssey with great cinematography. The well-written plot for the film was great and captivating.

I Don't Feel at Home in This World Anymore.
16 March 2022
After being burglarized, an unhappy woman and her neighbour go on a hunt to find the individual who stole from her. They soon find themselves in a more dangerous situation.

Directed by Macon Blair and starring Elijah Wood as Tony, and Melanie Lynskey as Ruth, the film is an amusing comedy that perfectly blends crime and drama. I Don't Feel at Home in This World Anymore tells a story of how a saddened woman is pushed to her limits due to how she sees how indecent people are towards her. The film explores the usual insights of lower-class society in a comedic, amusing way.

Performances from Melanie Lynskey for her role as Ruth were hilarious as well as Elijah woods. The chemistry between the two was a perfect balance.

I Don't Feel at Home in This World Anymore was an amusing film and a surprise gem to watch.

Leprechaun

A killer leprechaun goes on a murder spree to try to find his pot of gold.

Leprechaun is a horror film to watch on a bad movie night. The performances from the main cast were so cheesy and the direction of the film is uninteresting. The music was typical suspenseful music and the aesthetics used for the killer leprechaun was so corny. However, the films corniness from the performances makes it a fun film to watch for a few laughs.

Scream
10 March 2022
After 25 years Ghostface returns to Woodsboro to claim a new generation of victims.

Scream (2022) had a more serious tone than Scream (1996). The performances from Jenna Ortega and Mikey Madison were great. However, Melissa Barrera's performance was too dull throughout the film. The cinematography and music were good. The music enhanced the suspense in certain scenes while the cinematography perfectly captured the gruesome killings that had brilliant special effects.

Scream (2022) was a good slasher. An alright attempt to try to bring the franchise back into the spotlight. However, the anticipation for the film ended up being a disappointment for me.

REVISED REVIEW

After several watches of this film I changed my previous rating from a 6 to an 8. The film grew on me and is now a favourite film to watch. I previous stated that sam carpenter played by melissha barrera acted to dull but after several watches of the film her character does a good job enhancing the tone of the scenes with the help of the supporting casts. Scream(2022) is a breath of fresh air for the francise.

It

It is a great adaptation to the classic Stephen King novel. The two part mini-series has great performances from the main cast. The film is a classic that ages like fine wine. Although It (2017) is much more terrifying, this mini series will always be an outstanding horror film.

A farmer brutally murders his wife all because his wife wants him to sell their family farm and move to the city. With the help of his son Henry, both hide the body in a well on the farm. He starts to experience haunting events related to the murder of his wife which leads him to go insane and therefore write a confession to his wrongdoing.

The guilty conscience of wrongdoings is the main theme explored in the film. The curses Wilfred James experiences throughout the film can be represented as his emotions of guilt haunting him and how the killing of his wife as a solution has brought misfortunes for him and his son.

The film's performances from the main cast were good, however, Wilfred James played by Thomas Jane's thick Nebraskan slang in the first act in the film was often incomprehensible at times during some scenes. The film's cinematography was great as well as the aesthetics. The film is a great adaptation of the Stephen King novel.

Directed by Ben Sharrock, Limbo is a well-written outstanding film. The film's cinematography was beautifully done and performances from the main cast were enjoyable. The opening scene in the film was both brilliant and humorous. It is a slow-paced gem that was both amusing and wholehearted to watch.

The Hole in the Ground
3 March 2022
A single mother and her son relocate to get a fresh outlook on their lives. After her son returns home who briefly goes missing one night, his mother is convinced that her son is not hers due to his odd behaviour.

Directed by Lee Cronin and starring Seana Kerslake and James Quinn Markey, The Hole in the Ground is a slow burn film where its plot, action and scenes developed slowly throughout the film. The performances from both the main cast and the music in the film were typical but also enhanced the unsettling scenes. The cinematography was good for the first parts of the film, but act 3 was too dark to comprehend the action towards the underwhelming conclusion.

Contratiempo
1 March 2022
An entrepreneur is awakened to the dead body of his mistress in a hotel room. He and his lawyer go into detail on what transpired to her death.

Directed by Oriol Paulo, Contratiempo (The Invisible Guest) was a perfectly executed thriller. The film was very engaging throughout every scene. A well-written plot with many twists keeps you guessing the outcome of the conclusion. I was reluctant in viewing the film but the direction the plot engages in accompanied by the editing of the film was brilliantly done.

Fractured
27 February 2022
A father desperately tries to find his wife and daughter who go missing after he brings them to a hospital after his daughter has an accident. However, his odd behaviour reveals something more tragic to his story.

The film's direction explores grief and how the endless sadness one experiences can drive an individual insane and deteriorate one's mental health. Fractured was engaging throughout the film. The performance from Sam Worthington was well done. His performance for his role as Ray Monroe intensified the mystery and suspense for the film. The film was very engaging. However, the revelation in the conclusion was very underwhelming.

Sky Ladder: The Art of Cai Guo-Qiang
25 February 2022
A well-written documentary film focusing on Cai Guo-Qiang's brilliant project. The well-informed documentary provided adequate information showcasing the forethought of the visually appealing sky ladder project, his past art pieces, and a brief look at Cai Guo-Qiang's relationship with his family and how he thrived to become a brilliant contemporary artist. The cinematic camera shots capturing Cai Guo-Qiang's past projects were visually alluring and the showcasing of the planning of the sky ladder project throughout the documentary film was captured perfectly. We get a clear visual understanding of how Cai Guo-Qiang desires to achieve his artistic dream. A fantastic job from the director Kevin Macdonald on a fascinating documentary film.

I'm Thinking of Ending Things
24 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
A woman contemplates ending her relationship with her new boyfriend. Strange scenarios occur throughout her thoughts.

Based on the novel written by Iain Reid and directed by Charlie Kaufman, the theory of the film suggests the theme of emotional trauma. How our emotional connections to people become weak due to traumatic experiences. The film explores janitor jakes fictional life he imagines in his head. How a lifetime of loneliness and emotional trauma impairs the mind. The exploration of how his vision of his life he wished he fulfilled as he narrates and daydreams his vision throughout the film. The film was engaging to a sense of uncertainty. The suspense of what was going on was both interesting and incomprehensible at the same time. The performances from both the main cast were great. The chemistry between the two was good. Jesse Plemons's portrayal of Jakes's awkward tone throughout the film was played perfectly and Jessie Buckley's portrayal of Lucy's fear of uncertainty was exhibited well.

The film was a difficult film to understand, but it's one of those psychological thrillers that have an interesting dark, twisted concept to engage in.
