Masterblaster (1987)
Not bad if you like cheesy 80's flicks
This movie isn't for everyone. Going in, I expected it to be a 'bad' movie, really that's why I bought it. It was $1 by the way, my local video store went out of business so I bought like 20 tapes. But, bad as it is, it was still fun for me to watch.
Two things that bothered was the police woman asking the Vietnam dude if he really killed women and children in Nam. Well...if they just met a few hours ago, they only announced he was 'a real killer' in the war at the meeting, and the guy is a loner, how the hell does she know this? Also, the ending is pretty stupid. But, I laughed because of how corny it was. The theme song is pretty sweet too.
Worth a rental if you're into obscure 80s movies with poor acting, weak plots, and clichéd characters. My only misfortune is that the video store I bought this from was the only good one around here and Blockbuster doesn't rent stuff like this.
Guinea Pig: Ginî piggu - Akuma no jikken (1985)
A lot of hype...Little delivery
This movie seems to have a lot of people saying it is one of the most brutal of all time. After having just viewed it, I can say it does not live up to those claims.
The idea of the movie is indeed demented. But overall, the execution wasn't at all cringe worthy. Even the final scene (the eyeball thing) isn't really that nasty. I was expecting something insane, instead it was of lower quality than gore put forth on films like the ultra low budget Violent Sh!t.
Any one wanting to see an actual movie will be disappointed, since there is no story whatsoever (though surely most people know this). Gore fans will be disappointed since, contrary to belief, the blood and guts here are few and far between. Not to mention the actress playing the victim might be one of the worst in history.
Regardless of what people say, this movie isn't that shocking, it just plain all out sucks. Avoid it.
