The White Lotus (2021)
Painfully slow
I heard rave reviews about The White Lotus and to be honest I don't have anything positive to say about it accept it's had a brilliant cast. Each episode is so slow and drawn out, I've had to return to this series multiple times and still have 2 episodes to go. I keep hearing to "stick with it" and that "it gets better", if this show doesn't end on a high I'll definitely feel like I've wasted 6 hours of television watching. High IMDb scores and award winning acting. . Just waiting for something exciting to happen, or is that just going to be in the final episode and a massive anti climax. . . .
Blonde (2022)
Snooze
If you want a good movie to put you to sleep, well this one's the one. It's slow, it's long and it's overly drawn out. 2 hours and 45 minutes of wasted time.
The girl who plays Norma Jean aka Marilyn Monroe looks the part to a tee but you can tell that she has an accent that comes out when playing the character.
Also disappointing to know that the movie is based on speculation and not actual facts of Marilyn Monroe's life.
So overall, I personally wouldn't give it a watch. Find something more worthy to engage in
and spend your time watching. Especially if you have kids and your spare time is precious.
Pinocchio (2022)
Pinocci-NO
Not the best Disney movie made. Was quite long and boring. The casting didn't quite add up either. Italian father, American accent for a son and English accent people throughout the movie. Not sure which country we were in tbh? Could have been better or not made at all. Disappointing considering Tom Hanks is one of the best.
I would give it a miss, save your watching for something a bit more worthy and engaging. Disney should quit while they're ahead and stop remaking the classics. Keep what's good, good no need to make remakes I say ! Probably one of the worst remakes this far.
Anyways maybe next time. .
7th Heaven (1996)
Should of quit while they were ahead
Loveeee it, so corny it's good. Absolutely loved the first few seasons, then it goes a bit down hill. I feel like they could of ended the show sooner than later but thennnn they make out as if they're going to end the show at the end of season 10 and tie everything up perfectly. All to come back for a crappy 11th season. Definitely should of ended at 10, the ending to 11 doesn't even make sense ? . . .
A Million Little Things (2018)
Started off great
I absolutely loved the first season. The storyline was great and you had to intently watch each episode to comprehend what was going on. Each character plays an important role and does an amazing job. Come the second season, the storyline has gone a bit off track. . You don't have to watch each episode as intently to follow what's going on and I've found each episode doesn't make as much as impact or leave you wanting more.
Under the Banner of Heaven (2022)
Intriguing
Coming from a non religious background I found this show quite intriguing. The first episode was a bit slow but by the second episode I was hooked. Andrew Garfield plays his role amazingly and does a phenomenal job. I was slightly disappointed with the final episode, wishing it elaborated more on the final outcome. Worth the watch, a bit cringeworthy in some episodes.
Hustle (2022)
I rate it.
Big lover of any sports film, this one had it all. Great casting, acting, sport and just a feel good movie. Love seeing Adam Sandler in a different kind of role, this suited him. Give it a watch, I don't think you'll be disappointed.
Superstore (2015)
Quirky cute.
Loving Superstore. Easy watching, feel good comedy with characters you can learn to love and relate with. Short episodes so you can watch as little or as many as you want.
Cleveland Abduction (2015)
Confronting
This was a great movie based on real life events. I found the movie to be quite confronting and had to look away from time to time. I found it to be an excellent portrayal that hits home.
The only thing I would have liked to have seen more of what happened after the women escaped and how they went on to live their lives after such horror and indecency.
Inventing Anna (2022)
Boring
Just another slow, drawn out tv show. I tried to come back to this series multiple times but I just couldn't get into it. You know a show is bad if you get up to start cleaning. And I'm sorry, but Anna's accent is a horrible portrayal and just annoying. Kept waiting for something exciting to happen but never did.
The Girl from Plainville (2022)
More like the girl from Slow-ville
Although the acting from Elle Fanning is on point, I have to say that the show is very drawn out and slow. I keep waiting for more to happen in each episode but nothing much ever does. I think you could have summed up the first 6 episodes into about 3. Hanging out for the last few and hoping it'll pick up a bit.
Only the Brave (2017)
An all time favourite
This movie without a doubt is one of favourites. It's raw, it's moving, it's heroic, it's heartbreaking. A true story based on real events of the granite mountain hot shots. These men are heroes and this movie portrays that. It gets me in every time I watch it.
Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty (2022)
Yawn
I love a good sports movie or tv series, but this one was not for me. Slow, drawn out and boring. Couldn't get passed the 3rd episode - which still had no basketball in it by the way. Not sure what Magic Johnson was like as not a Lakers fan or familiar with that era of basketball but his character is overly arrogant, annoying and obnoxious which also made me turned off this show.
Turning Red (2022)
I mean, it was okay. .
Look, not the best Disney/Pixar film that I've watched. It wasn't horrible but it wasn't great. I found myself getting a bit bored. Has a good story line but just a bit long and had this "nothingness" about it. Let's just say I wouldn't watch it again in a hurry. .
Somebody Feed Phil (2018)
Everybody loves Phil
If you don't already know, Phil is the executive producer and writer of Everybody loves Raymond.
What's not to love about this show. Food - tick, Travel - tick, Kindness - tick! Yes, there may be one too many dad jokes from time to time, but how can you not love Phil? This is definitely a feel good show and I love that he brings his family and crew into it and shared his experience with them all.
Bluey (2018)
You little beauty
Bluey isn't just for the kids, but the adults too! Heck, even my partner has a chuckle over it. Bluey is cute and the show is authentic. I love the stories, the examples of great parenting and life lessons. I also find it very clever. We love Bluey in this house and I have no doubt you'll love this bubbly, fun, positive show!
Euphoria (2019)
Give it a chance
Started watching Euphoria and honestly I didn't think it was for me. This show is dark and heavy and frightens me to think if there's actually schools like this in America.
But, give it a few episodes and you'll easily get drawn into the storyline and take a liking to the characters.
Zendaya's performance is phenomenal. Absolutely outstanding.
1883 (2021)
The wonderful Wild West
I'm not a big western fan, so when this show came across my screen I had my doubts. But, I have to say that I was hooked after the first episode - what an opening scene! Phenomenal acting by all, great storyline and great sequel to Yellowstone. Note: you don't have to watch Yellowstone to understand this show.
Jacinta (2020)
Surprising
When my partner put this documentary on, I honestly thought I wouldn't like it. I was wrong, got hooked on Jacinta's journey and more than surprised at the end. I wish her and her family all the best.
Killing Eve (2018)
Funny but dark.
Absolutely loved the first two seasons. Great acting, story line and kept you interested and wanting more. Unfortunately towards the later seasons I feel like the show gets a bit misled. Still definitely worth a watch, if you like drama x crime x comedy you'll love killing eve.
Marry Me (2022)
Could have been better
Went in hoping for a great romcom. Finished watching and though so, so. Cute but probably wouldn't go back to watch again. Unfortunately because I love both JLo and Owen Wilson.
Ted Lasso (2020)
So much yes !
What is there not to love about Ted Lasso. Such a feel good tv series. If this show doesn't give you a laugh, or make you feel warm and fuzzy inside then I'm not sure what's wrong with you. . Great tv, great story line, great acting.
Maid (2021)
Highly recommended
This mini series certainly pulls on the heart strings. Couldn't fault the series in anyway. Hits close to home, the main character has such strength and courage and a positive outlook on life even though she has endured such challenging times throughout her adult life. Do yourself a favour and watch this.
Below Deck (2013)
Easy watching
Love it. If you need some easy watching tv after a long day, this is the show for you. You think you'd maybe get over watching one episode after another, but surprisingly not - it just gets better. Binge worthy reality tv, what more could you want?
Dopesick (2021)
Strap in for a hell of a show
Wow, what can I say about this mini series. I never knew how much of an impact opioids could make on people's lives. This show is tragic, raw, heartbreaking and heavy. The mini series show different stories and how such a drug effected different peoples lives in different ways. Highly recommend. Excellent acting.
