Hollywood.Con (2021)
An MBA ( Mika Boorem is Amazing) in filmmaking
From child actress to major Tinseltown talent, Mika Boorem spreads her wings and displays her versatility in engineering incomparable entertainment as she takes on the mantle of directing and cowriting this tale of the ups, downs, ins, outs, intrigue, and a few devils in the city of angels.
Rocky Balboa (2006)
Looks like another TKO!
I have to admit that I'm mildly obsessed with the first Rocky movie. I wasn't sure what to expect from this, but let me say without giving anything away, that Sly does not disappoint! If you like the original, go check this out. It has heart and will leave you jonesing to run up the Philadelphia Art Museum steps. Not sure what else to say, but I can't submit without a minimum of 10 lines. It definitely has a classic feel to it and brings back many of the characters you've come to love. I've heard that Stallone was disappointed with number 5, which I've never seen, but this definitely redeems any shortcomings and is a great way to bring the story full circle. Way to go champ!
Life as a House (2001)
Gripping
A whimsical romp with a puckish air of je ne sais quoi. Stop watching whatever drivel you're looking at and pick this one up right away. I mean it, I really mean it. Unfortunately, it does not contain any cameo appearances by Norm Abram or Bob Vila(or Steve Thomas, for you latecomers), I've heard that this was due to their demands for separate trailers for their beards. Anyway, if you didn't catch it the first time I said it, see this movie, you'll thank me, you may even be tempted to send me money for this advice(not necessary but I appreciate the thought).
The Beautician and the Beast (1997)
What the ****?
I'm sorry that I had to give this such a high rating but there were no negative integers available. How do I describe it? Roget doesn't have enough synonyms for execrable. Hell had to build an addition for anyone associated with this film and I fear my and my friend's fate for having contributed to the profits of this dross. And those are the high points. Do not, I repeat, do not see this movie, write to your state representative, governor, or grand poobah, and implore them to have this removed from video stores and late, late movie showings. You have been warned, I can't be held accountable for anyone renting and viewing it in its entirety!
The Muppet Movie (1979)
Pure, unadulterated, undiluted, unabriged genius
One of the greatest offerings of the 70's, the Muppets offer worthwhile entertainment for kids without speaking down to them. This movie is still as good 23 years later and the celebrity cameos really add entertainment value.
