Night Swim (2024)
Really running out of ideas huh?
Whose absolutely horrible idea was this? A killer swimming pool? I actually can't believe I'm actually watching this. The pool is super aggressive and there's dead people just hanging around it... going for a night swim.... The pool even scratches people... I'm guessing it has claws... I'm in utter disbelief that writers sat around and concocted this movie... I'm even in more disbelief that no one realized how dumb it sounded and is as they were filming it... you guys and girls literally sat around and came up with a killer pool script and no one bothered mentioning... "this is actually a pretty stupid movie" the pool could've been a sacred object or a burial ground but it's neither... it's just a pool...
Ps. In addition to claws the pool can use those claws to sucking humans and dogs down a drain hole no bigger that a baseball (no pun intended) the dad is a baseball player after all... it's like sucking a lemon through a straw but it does it with ease...
Bulbbul (2020)
The storyline was cool BUT...
I'm in America... I have no clue what child marriage is. Or why it seems so normal in India at that time. My only question is why and why does it seem like everyone is just okay with this? I'm confused.... I couldn't get past that part at all. Poor little baby incest MFS... if this is what India is like it pisses me off. I see the Netflix documentaries predator and butcher wtf is going on in India... I'm so pissed that they are ok with this no one says anything and everyone allows it to happen. Aside from that a little color yes perhaps even black and white which I wouldn't have bothered to watch cause I was born in the 90s when color was a thing, but perhaps not so much color would've been great... the dreadful red during killing scenes was just redundant... end note I'll pass.
30 Monedas (2020)
I'm not sure what u want anymore....
As I read the reviews I can't help but wonder what exactly is it in looking for. Cause once again I'm not impressed. When I think of horror I think of James wan (early days) Blumhouse (sometimes) or the classics like exorcist conjuring 1 insidious. Even if it is in Spanish, which I might add has some of the best horror movies, I expect more common sense then making stupid decisions because you know the camera is watching. Be a little bit more realistic and in easily impressed. Something as little as someone making the decision to GTFO of town because of all this crap that's going in, can really impress me because it shows they made an attempt to flee but the evil followed them. Little things like that make this way more realistic and it gives you that sense of "oh crap if that happens to me I won't be able to get away from it" but watching people put up with crap because "I can't leave my townspeople" is corny as F. If something goes down no one is sticking around for anyone except blood relatives and sometimes not even that lol... I give it 5 because if dumb decision making. With that said it could've been great.
The Nun II (2023)
Not sure what a 5.9 is doing next the the IMDb score
This movie is absolutely fantastic especially because it's 4 years after the first events and 15 years before the conjuring. We have everything from demons to dead kids to the whereabouts of Maurice and the Sister... it's way better than the first and it actually does pickup where it left off while going full circle back towards the conjuring... that alone made this movie GREAT. People come here giving unrealistic reviews and scores and that pisses me off... if you're an avid horror fan and a fan of the conjuring universe than you will appreciate this movie more than the conjuring 3... this did have the scare factor to it. I always found the nun to be scarier than all the conjuring except for the first 1.... Go watch!
Birth/Rebirth (2023)
***I TAKE MY PREVIOUS REVIEW BACK***Not sure how 3 different sites have this rated so high.
AFTER WATCHING THE MOVIE ALL THE WAY THROUGH I THINK ITS ABSOLUTELY GREAT. IT DID BUILD SOME EMOTION BUT NOT EVERY TIME IT SHOULD HAVE... THE ENDING WAS A TYPICAL "DAMN WHAT A STUPID ENDING" SCENE BUT IM HOPING A PART 2 WILL FIX THAT.
Previous Review
First of all it's pretty dull to say the least. There's no emotion whatsoever. You don't feel a connection to any character by any means. They don't explain what happens or why or even how, so it doesn't allow you to feel the pain if a mother who just lost her child. Hell the mother doesn't even cry when he baby daughter dies. One day the daughter is fine the next morning she sick and that very night she is dead. Then the mother is at the morgue the very next morning without 1 tear drip she'd. She goes about her life in a very normal emotionless way. I usually get that lump in the back of my throat when I see a mother lose a kid in a movie. But in this movie the love, the lost, and the grief are all completely emotionless. So you're just on a "welp life goes on" kind of attitude.
The Passenger (2023)
ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS MOVIE!!! This is an actual review straight up no cast or production hype review...
By far one of the best movies I've seen in a while cause it literally has every emotion mixed in at the same time. It almost made me cry while laughing hysterically at the same time. There was literally points where I felt sad but at the same time I couldn't stop laughing. While Johnny Berchtolds character makes you want to cry of empathy Kyle Gallners character is right there to take that tear jerker and push it right back into your eye and make you start dying laughing and then all of a sudden the mood gets absolutely serious and your right back into the thick of it. By far this movie gets a ten from me because it was just so much emotion. Excellent story line, plot twist, unexpected occurrences, and much more.. GO WATCH NOW!!!
Evil Dead Rise (2023)
Had high hopes... Deviating from the original part 2 wasn't the best idea
I had really high hopes for this one. Tbh the effects were awesome but the story line wasn't realistic.., burial ground u see a project LA run down apartment building? Besides where are all the other tenants of the building? How does no one hear what's going on inside this small apartment? I have a million questions... my downstairs neighbors would've called every coo on the force if I would've made the racket they made during the struggle... and what part of LA has no one walking down its streets at any time of the day? Just not realistic and it's a shame because it could've been. Like part 1 for example "girl on drugs trying to get clean decides to quit cold turkey in a cabin in the woods" great idea but family in an apartment that only 4 other people outside of the apartment interact with during a loud struggle ... no and the major while in the plot was why this thing chose this family at all to begin with... could've been much better with a little TLC.... 5 stars for good graphic and creepy looking main demon.
The Pope's Exorcist (2023)
"The Nun" had a baby with "The Rite"....5 stars by default
Everything from the script to the exact phrases to the characters and even the setting is the exact same as every other Vatican exorcist movie ever created... This is basically "THE RITE" mixed with a little conjuring the devil made me do it. Absolutely nothing new under the sun. I can agree Having Russel Crowe play the exorcist was great but Anthony Hopkins already nailed that role and he did it better than Crowe could. By default this can only get a 5 because you're watching the same exact thing over again. Mocking God "what's you name?!" "Don't address the demon directly" "Pray" "Unclean Spirit" I mean it's all there and all the exact same... The movie takes place in an Abby which screams "The Nun." With all that said it's worth a watch because it's funny at times and it is a horror movie about exorcism. If you're a horro fan like I am (especially when the Vatican is involved) then it's certainly worth a watch but to rate it more then 5 stars is ridiculous.
Red Rose (2022)
The soundtrack costed them 2-3 stars easy...
Never did I think I'm a million years a soundtrack would completely F a horror show up for me.. when I read the twins who did Bly did this show I thought "yup I'll give it a watch" the Fn sound track pissed me off so much it's not even funny Barbie girl during a funeral set? I can't believe how this soundtrack made it through the talent (or lack of) in production.... I literally had to fast forward past it because of the fact that they kept playing Barbie girl over and over some original vocals and some opera type vocals... F off for that cause it was cringey as hell... the soundtrack is horrible... I can't even watch it anymore I'm at episode 3 and they have someone covering "better off alone and she's terrible" I draw the line here... cutting it off... damnit I wanted to like it...
Skinamarink (2022)
2 things ruined it for me short and simple...
1. Why on earth did they feel the need to shoot the whole movie in that retro cloudy 1970 but with a lot of filter BS picture? Actually being able to see what's going on would've been great.
2. About an hour of the movie is absolutely nothing... now really sure why they thought it ok to make a movie where absolutely nothing happens for more than half of it... I thought my picture in my tv was broken cause u could hear people talking but the camera was out of focus... thinking about it makes me hate the movie even more... if you want to go to sleep this is your movie.. overall opinion? Don't waste your time unless you have nothing else to watch AT ALL.
Don't Look at the Demon (2022)
A monk.... How original...
A medium hopped up on benzos.... A new female crew member who happens to be a tramp... a producer who's sleeping with the medium... and a couple camera guys who probably punch refrigerators at college parties to see who can make the bigger dent in the fridge.... and a monk who can or can't save the day... now add a demon presence and safe to say... idk wtf I'm looking at anymore. Production was all over the place... I'm not sure the writers ever met each other for this movie. Seems like they were in different universes when they wrote this. Horror my ass don't waste your time and the lead actress annoyed me with the way she looked... comb your hair lady wtf.
Infrared (2022)
Had potential With no experience
I'm guessing there was 1 writer for this movie who had no one to bounce ideas off of as far as the script goes. On top of that the lady's acting was absolutely terrible. Wes' acting however while not incredibly great was actually not bad. The script took away from his acting skills I think. A better script could've made him seem a little more authentic cause he had his moments. Usually getting into his line he was good but by the end of his line or lines he lost the ability to be called a good actor. The writer had a good idea regarding what the next setting and lines would be but it seems like he got bored half way through each scene and rushed it just to be done. My advice take your time and keep with it. Some acting was actually so good I couldn't tell it was actually a movie... had to go check because the mannerisms and lines were superbly authentic, like the lady in the coffee cup scene... super job. I'll give it 4 cause I actually watched it.
When I Consume You (2021)
A few things that kept it from 8 stars...
They did a really good job at building identity on the characters. Add to that the fact that the siblings acted the part well enough to have you feel their struggle. However, killing daphne off in the first 20 minutes was pretty premature. The fact that we don't exactly know how or why she died also didn't sit right with me. I usually love horror dramas because of the fact that they do so well with building the characters and making you feel every ounce of their emotion. This just didn't deliver... it burned really slow... the backwood of horror drama genre if you will. I just don't know where they were trying to go. Yellow veil hasn't ever given me anything to make me write home about so the most exciting part of the movie for me was finding out what production company was used. I was expecting A24 or even Blunhouse. When I saw yellow veil I thought to myself "well in that case how good could it be" I will say it delivered what I expected which wasn't much. This was a production company failure because the actors delivered.
Expedition Unknown (2015)
"Did you say 100 to 300 tons of gold?"
Off of the commercial with josh quoting the quote in my title, I can tell this is the fakest over acting expedition show in the world. I'm reading he never finds anything and he's acting and using props and exploding Hollywood rocks to make this look real? I can watch any history documentary to learn about places. Why would I give this bogus over acting show a chance? Cancel this crap.
She Will (2021)
Suspiria meets The Shopper
Being that I was a big fan of both movies, this movie to me was a really good one. Acting is on point. IFC midnight doesn't always impress me but when it does it does. At one point the movie went psychedelic and I'm not a fan of psychedelic but it was brief enough for me to be able to tolerate it. Almost as if the director knew if he pushed it too far he would completely destroy the plot and production. He showed great restraint in completely ruining it. Altogether it was a good movie that stuck to the script and ended up delivering. Give it a watch.
Zhou (2022)
Wouldn't even take a dookie while watching this movie
It was pure garbage. She had absolutely no reason to be holding a camera the entire movie. There was no reason for this to be found footage. It could've been a regular movie. Add to that the fact that the Blair witch and every found footage movie in the world had a baby then that baby had a baby with a garbage can. And that baby's name was "incantation" also while I'm at it F netflix and their stupid English voice over bull crap. It literally makes every movie much worse then it already is. I wish Netflix had a "just English" feature because cheesenrice this is 💩
Katt Williams: World War III (2022)
Reminded me of TI getting booed
Never thought I'd see a day where TI Harris and Katt Williams had equal stand up performances... I feel bad for Katt but I'm happy he got paid. F it at least he tried to redeem himself from being gone but he needs to start getting high again and redo his career so he can bring himself back to what he was.
Sasquatch (2021)
I'll go with 6 Because...
First off I think the fact that they had a pothead open up about Sasquatch in the episode 1 introduction kindve put me right into a skeptical mindset. I actually came into the series with a complete open mind. But a bunch of guys on a weed field "tripping out" about Sasquatch had me believe they were growing some potent s**t as opposed to actual Bigfoot but let's see where this goes. I'll be back to edit if anything else changes.
Rang song (2021)
I've read best horror film of the year (super stretch) but.....
It did it's job. I'm an avid horror movie watcher and reviewer so when shudder drops something new that is in a different language I'm reluctant to even click because most the time reading doesn't interest me when I'm trying to watch a movie. But, being that The Wailing and Train to Busan were such good Korean horror films I figured I give this a try. I don't regret it. But I will say the Blair witch project and Curse if Noroi (Japanese) had a baby and it was the medium... but it's a 2022 baby so it doesn't think very much and it lacks much of what made prior generations special. (Originality)
Okay enough with the metaphorically speaking bs.. go watch it and make sure you have proper subtitles because they really ruined it with the literal translations. Had to put another set on top of the embedded set... wtf and why can't america make good horror movies anymore... conjuring 1 and insidious 1 and it follows we're the last 3 to give me the "oh s**t" feel.
Eli Roth Presents: A Ghost Ruined My Life (2021)
Meh
Yup all I've got is meh.... When they start adding the obvious effects and then the "did that just happen because we are talking about it?" Dialogue I immediately lose interest... just tell me a ghost story with pictures or don't but stop adding the extra effects cause I don't believe it any more...
Paranormal (2020)
Never could REALLY understand why all Foreign (to USA) Netflix series get such high ratings.
Perhaps if I watched it in Arabic it would've been better because the English voice overs completely ruin the authenticity of the acting in general. So basically it seemed cheesy because in English it sounds cheesy making it look cheesy... I Fn love Egypt and all the mummy pharaoh curse stories but this??? This wasn't anything to write home about... I'm Fn mad!!! Watch 1 episode then either go to bed or start something else... it's only good for 1 episode.
A House on the Bayou (2021)
Tons of over acting and not acting enough
The wife is a terrible over actor while the dad didn't execute acting enough... and this was aside from the fact that they both were headed for divorce... end result cheesy as F with a couple hillbilly's thrown into the mix.
My Heart Can't Beat Unless You Tell It To (2020)
Are you kidding me.
I guess I'm more of a fan of realistic happenings even if it involves ghost or goblins I prefer it gives some sort of authenticity to it like "it could have happened" or "this could be true".... In this movie I got none of that.. it's annoying, it's done in broad daylight, no one cares who goes missing, 1 guy overpowers everyone, no one runs fast enough or at all for that matter, and everyone is ok with the fact that they are about to die... I was absolutely annoyed but this 100%. DO NOT WASTE THE TIME GO WATCH THE CONJURING 1 AGAIN!!
Halloween Kills (2021)
Way too familiar...
I'm not sure when exactly along the many many years of motion pictures and film development the remedy for a franchise that dies after the 3rd film became "add another film" but given todays acceptance of damn near everything it figures. Sorry if I can't just "ride the wave" but if the movie is not better than ALL it's predecessors I feel it should have never been made. Sometimes I think the writers producers and directors are just way too involved to actually take a step back and say to themselves "no this isn't it" but damn.... Just take the step back or in this case don't spend the money... go feed the needy because this was an absolute waste of a film budget. Long story short mike does some killing and Jamie Lee Curtis does some fighting the end. (I will not call that a spoiler even though I gave the whole movie away in 13 words.... Buahahaha 😂
