The Favourite (2018)
Queen Anne's Revenge
A phenomenal film, loved every second, acting was superb and the direction quirky, dark and constantly surprising. Cannot pick who stole the show, Weisz, Coleman and Stone were brilliant as the three leads and were surrounded by an excellent support cast. Absolutly quality film.
Sleeping Beauty (2011)
90 minutes of plot less nonsense
I will carefully watch the career of Director Leigh and at all costs avoid anything that she ever makes again. There is a severe and astounding lack of story line or plot and any promise of a haunting, thrilling complex tale is a flat out lie. The film is a disjointed sequence of odd non relating scene's some of which are totally pointless and the rest are only fairly pointless. I would recommend anyone to watch anything else than this. There is no subtext, there is no complexity only pretentious gibberish. I hope this does not mean the end of Emily Browning, who was faultless in Sucker Punch but if that is the cost of never hearing of this film again it will be a bargain. 1 star and a grudging one at that!
The Trial of Tony Blair (2007)
Amusing and cynical but not realistic
This satire is very amusing and shows how fickle politics and politicians are, however the show most not be taken too seriously. If you keep in mind the insane nature of the story, you may very well enjoy it as much as i did. Robert Lindsay is brilliant as Blair, but then he is brilliant in almost all of his roles, he does however nail Blair when showing him as his grinning media self, the portrayals of Gordon Brown and of David Cameron are also very funny, though the physical likeness of both is questionable the voices and actions are perfect.
The humour is biting throughout but then again so is much of the political comedy in Britain. If you are prepared to take this show at face value i am sure you will thoroughly enjoy it. I cannot wait for the second installment.
