Spaceship Terror (2011)
Diamond in the rough
I had an absolute blast with this film, it does have some edges around the corners that could be fine tuned, but overall, I consider this film a diamond in the rough.
Story - Your usual slasher fare; a group of people enter a small space and get killed one by one, except its more like Friday the 13th and instead of a mindless juggernaut killing everyone off one by one, you've got one big sadistic and I mean sadistic and grotesque killer. Take a redneck and pump him full of alien steroids and make him look like he's been masturbating all day long and you got Captain Terror.
Characters - I was really surprised here. As cookie cutter as the story could have been, everything is just taken that one step further. The only character that really isn't fleshed out and has a personality is one guy besides the killer. All the women actually get into their characters pretty well, and they have some great dialogue between them all. I was expecting this to be more of just a T&A flick and I actually found myself rooting for these women, and every time one of them got killed, I just hated Captain Terror even more.
Gore- Sure is lots of it, I was very happy.
T&A Some and its not situational. Situation nudity is where you walk into a room and a woman is already naked. No this film definitely hit the spot for me in the T&A department where the nudity is part of the plot and the action. Just don't expect this to be a soft core porn just because the entire cast is women.
Last Remarks -
I personally can't wait to see Harry Tchinky's next movie Grimises Rising. He's definitely on my list of directors Im going to be following. Spaceship Terror is a movie I've been wanting a director to be ballsy enough to put out there in a long time.
Werewolf in a Womens Prison (2006)
Finally got it
From the campy beginning to the suspenseful ending, A dual horror theme like this is rarely seen anymore. As in dual, I mean the terror of being put into a sadistic women's prison from the perspective of the main actress to the terror of the inmates getting ripped in half. I expected a half-done low budget porn but what I got was a well-made exploitation horror at its campiest.
Most Noted are the performances from Victoria De Mare (Sarah Ragdale) and Jackeline Olivier (Rita). Ms. De Mare gives it her all as she expresses all the emotions into what her character might be feeling step by step in all of these events. And Rita plays her part absolutely sadistically with some of the best maniacal laughs on her part.
As for any criticizing goes for this film, It could be released with an R if it were mainstream. Fangoria compares the film to Showgirls of recent Sexploitation/horror. However, there is suggestive sexual situations, a lesbian sex scene topless nudity abound, there is no actual full frontal nudity.
As for violence this film hits the g-spot. Its almost as if they keep us satisfied with the nudity and sex until the skin comes off and the blood starts flowing. This is almost par to the mask movie where all hell breaks loose when Jim Carrey puts on the mask. I'll tell you this, you're just gonna have to see it to believe it. The violence is just that good. I can't wait to see what this film company does if they have a bit more money to spend.
I didn't really agree with the spoof of an American Werewolf in Londan but it worked good in this film and it was funny lol.
I give this film a 4 claws way up. Suggestions I would have for sequels could be A Vampire in a Vixen's Hell or A Mummy in a Madam's Brothel. LOL. Hope the DVD sells well. It's definitely worth the wait and money.
Superman: Doomsday (2007)
Only similarity is doomsday and recovery
Warning spoilers:
They butchered the comic with this adaptation!!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't get me wrong I enjoyed this movie but the entire storyline with lex luthor is completely fabricated and untrue with what really happened in the comics. First of all, where is the man of steel i.e. the superman with the metal armor. Ever since I seen the lame excuse of a movie called Steel with Shaq, I've wanted them to show Steel's true origin, the origin that gone back to the death of superman? Next, where is the other supermen? Where is brainiac? And how about the destruction of Atlantic City that caused the green lantern's breakdown to start Zero Hour? They managed to draw a city of people, but they didn't add the superheroes that attended Superman's funeral. And then they had the nerve to say it's based off a graphic novel. Sorry buds, This may been released as a graphic novel which contained every comic book. I was there, and I bought every comic book.
What's next, the butchering of knightfall? Oh yeah, they already butchered knightfall by making bane a brainless brute of a servant to poison ivy in the movie Batman and Robin.
Hollywood should stay out of comic books unless they have true fans making the movies. i.e. Bryan Singer of X-men 1 and 2. If he did 3, Juggernaut would be what he always had been: a human, Xavier's brother, and invincible due to the magical helmet bolted to his armor.
