Luther: The Fallen Sun (2023)
Netflix trying too hard to be Hollywood
While the story offers so much potential for a thought provoking movie, this execution is just shouting out loud that it tries too hard to be top tier, it tries to be those older action thrillers that were original and breathtaking. Characters are having hilarious gaps in their behaviour, police is some kind of fancy show, the fighting scenes just pathetic. Acting is good here and there but that's it... The way the plot unravels is indicating that the writers tried to make it look clever, have twists and be suspenseful. They achieve it at some points and that's the only thing that keeps you watching. But in the end, it was a waste of time.
The Unforgivable (2021)
Intense but lacking
For a 2021 movie it just doesn't hit the target. The plot isn't much new, the theme of the cop killer stigma provides some food for thought but all the rest are concepts seen multiple times in so many movies and plots. Felt like recycling with a brand new cast and set. The ending also leaves you with a cliffhanger that provides more frustration than space for thought on what happened afterwards.
Mystère (2021)
Yet another cliché
Another "animal-happy" drama which whitewashes the role wildlife plays in nature. An irresponsible parent whi cannot protect his daughter is presented as the hero who comes in contrast with local sheep owners. Quite interesting how these farmers do not possess sepherd dogs but only guns. Useful to make the drama more intense. The girl and father are lucky to not be attacked by the wolves, yet we are presented with a fairy tale that dresses every moment in a romantic tone. This could have been a great chance to raise the contemporary problems that humankind has with nature. Yet it's just another cliche drama to make people more ignorant of the raw truths. Both about people and animals.
