La habitación azul (2002)
Not a dynamic movie
La habitacion Azul is an everyday story, it shows us nothing different from real life events. The rhythm is incredibly monotonous and totally predictable. The cast is OK but I think mexican productions are in great need of new talent, the same actor appear in several movies and all of a sudden you don't know you're watching a different one. I like to go to the movie theater to see something different, out of the ordinary, stories that challenge the imaginations, that go further than what we live.
Vivir mata (2002)
Good movie made with tested formulas
I think "Vivir mata" is a good film, funny, smart, but very commercial, it was made to make money, there's nothing wrong with that. Director Echeverria has a good filmography with movies like "Cabeza de vaca", a historic theme. Good for him if he makes money, but it's a step down creativelly.
Escrito en el cuerpo de la noche (2001)
Very good play, mediocre movie
Escrito en el cuerpo de la noche is an excelent play written by Emilio Carballido and without a doubt, a very funny and intelligent piece, Hermosillo's movie, in my opinion, does not have any cinematographic proposal, it's a great play for the stage but a less than mediocre film, it's a good film for it's story and everyone will be pleased with it.
De la calle (2001)
Very good narrative, good directing, very good editing and the story is... well, average
In Mexican film we are living a fatalist era, which is not all that bad and it is a part of our country and our culture, like Amores Perros which is the best known, among others. De la calle is a good film, it goes to the guts of the problem without compromising deeper, which is OK, but there are many more arms to this octopus, there are worst cases.
Very good narrative, good directing, very good editing and the story is... well, average, because if your going to put a story on film, I think it has to go beyond what we already know.
More than a good effort, it's a good movie, but I would do more with the story.
