Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me (1992)
Terrifying
Something about the tone of this film is absolutely terrifying. It really puts you off guard, and then slips under your skin. Some of the sequences and images still haunt me to this day. David Lynch is a genius.
My Own Private Idaho (1991)
Mesmerizing
Probably the first movie I ever saw that left me speechless. I just didn't know what to make of it, but I kept coming back to watch River phoenix. Gus Van sant at the height of his powers. Flea is also really fun to watch.
Rad (1986)
Absolute classic
I honestly must have watched this movie at least 50 times. Sends me back to simpler days, cruising the neighborhood on my dmx. Also have a soft spot for the song send me an angel.
Man on Fire (2004)
So satisfying
Not usually a huge fan of Denzel washington, but this movie was absolutely badass. Totally believable, and totally convincing. Kept me on the edge of my seat.
World War Z (2013)
Wanted more
I absolutely love the book, so the movie came up short for me. The book does such a great job of showing different national characteristics through their response to a pandemic. The movie didn't have any of that. Third act was so weird.
District 9 (2009)
I had of its time
Talk about a sleeper hit! I came into this with no expectations, I was blown away. Really nice use of special effects. Never pulls you out of the moment.
Roma (2018)
Lame
Don't know what all the fuss is about. Very boring. And I'm a big fan of Mexican culture.
Children of Men (2006)
All time favorite
I literally never get tired of watching this movie. Story, cinematography, action. All top notch.
Behemoth (2021)
Cool monsters
Low budget, but pretty dope little indie horror. Last 30 minutes is nuts, with some gnarly monsters.
