Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones (2002)
Major disappointment
This movie has to be the biggest disappointment this summer. I couldn't help to think that The new Star Wars will never be as good as the original, not matter how good the special effect gets. First of all the dialog is horrible, the love story should have been a big part of the movie, but it is not convincing at all. The movie is full of poorly constructed logic. For example, why the hell the bounty hunter trying to use some poison bugs to kill the senator, when he can actually put some bugs into her room without any trouble, why not just shoot her right there. Also the special effect didn't get very good untill the second half, the sky chase part of the movie is not original, merely a shamelessly copy of Fifth Element which was made 6 years earlier, and still looked a lot better than this movie. The only good thing I can say about this movie is the special effect at the end, yes it is very good. But for some reason, I am not that impressed. I think I expected Star War to be this good. I found BladeII and Spider Man to be better movie this year.
Jeepers Creepers (2001)
I want my money back
This has to be one of worst moive of 2001 I have seen. Actully the first half of the movie is OK, it has several scary scenes. And the movie does a lot of set up mystories in the first 30minutes, such as the underground cave scene... But the second half of the movie didn't explain anything. It becomes a short story collection. It seems each part of the movie are not connected at all, some characters are there for no reason. It jumps from one part to another, and it makes no sense what so ever. The worst part is that it didn't solve any of the riddles it leaves to us in the first half of the movie.
This movie is such a joke, poorly constructed. 3/10 for me.
Bound (1996)
As good as it gets.
I was totally amazed by this movie for 2 reasons. The first reason is the chemistry between the 2 female characters, Corky and Violet (played by Gina Gershon and Jennifer Tilly). They are terrific together, the scene which Violet seduces Corky is unbelievably hot. There is no doubt that this is the best performance of Gershon and Tilly. It is easily the best seduction scene of all time, and it is between 2 women, so I guess it makes it even more special. But that's not all, the movie is not about a romantic story between 2 women as the opening 20minutes might have indicated, instead the plot moves on and becomes a thriller. Corky and Violet have to steal $2million from Violet's mob boyfriend. There are a lot twists and surprises in the movie, and it is well constructed. The bound between the 2 women getting stronger and tighter during the movie, it really makes you care for them as the movie goes on. There is another movie called The Last Seduction, which evolves seduction, a lot of money and woman and man who all want it. The Last Seduction is about as smart movie as the Bound, but the difference is after you watches The last Seduction you probably have a bitterness left in the mouse, on the contrary all Bound leaves you behind is sweetness. One of my favorite movies of all time. 10/10
Prague Duet (1998)
Gina Gershon is great, but movie is boring
My god this movie is awfully boring. I am a big fan of Gina Gershon, when I rented this movie I expected a romantic drama, and some great performance from Gershon. Gershon is great as always, but she is not right actress for this role, she is too good for Rade Serbedzija. The romance between Gershon and Serbedzija's characters is too unconvincing. And I absolutely hated Serbedzija's character (a wonman organizer), he is not charming in anyway in the movie. How did Dr. Lauren Graham (Gershon) is beyond my comprehension. Maybe Sean Connery, Robert DeNiro or Harrison Ford would have done a better job on this role, but they don't have the European-ish looking I guess. Any way, I was so bored druing the movie. If you are looking for a good Gina Gershon movie, check out Bound, her best film so far. If you are looking for a romantic film about a younger woman and an older man, try some Harrison Ford or Sean Connery movies. Gina Gershon is so underrated, and she deserves better chance than this, I wish her to make better choice in the future.
