Money Plane (2020)
Great movie.
I've never been in a plane like this (I travel economy) but was able to grasp and connect with the plot and its mood.
It's a movie in a classic action-heist style that yet finds its own features to exhibit with its setups and payoffs, raising the stakes and providing action thrills despite not affording the most expensive special effects.
There are various reversals throughout the movie which keep it interesting until it meets its destination, so it makes for an enjoyable ride and even some of its mildly wacky absurdities infuse it with fun.
I think this movie relies on a mission to have a good time with the some underlying meaning it, so I can recommend it.
Synecdoche, New York (2008)
This is it.
The worst piece of cinema that's been made, this is it.
If it would have a smell it would be like that of one of those expired and decomposing french cottage cheeses; aiming at a certain high finesse then stenching wherever enclosure it inhabits. Production and acting are superb though, at the service of a plotted disaster of calculated decadence and yawning.
Cotard (the protagonist) could easily wake up in a straight jacket to reveal he was a tyrannical obsessive who wished to kidnap masses of people in a hangar but the watcher is in for a much less fulfilling ride: into the drowsiness tunnel.
Whiplash (2014)
Good, then not so.
For most of the of the runtime it's a very good movie, well executed, but wraps up bringing about a sensation like a dull version of a Black Mirror episode (minus the science fiction of course). The two main antagonists end up looking entrapped with each other in an unexciting, sort of mechanical way.
I'd praise mainly the portrayal of drum playing as action scenes, sometimes like duels, with even a war-like scene once when the guy enters the rehearsals room bleeding and injured after a car crash (however you wanna feel about that).
Yes, it could have had him connected to a blood IV line whenever he practices, yes it could have had him wearing lead bracelets as well but here's not like that;
in Whiplash it's venting off or getting off.
