Great story told in an annoying way
29 July 2023
This is a hell of a story. Great costume design and cinematography. Good acting. Nicely developed characters. Colors play a huge role and are on point. The way the story told is really annoying. While I don't mind the jumping back and forth through the years as long as I know when we're at, there were a few occasions they didn't put the year on and that caused a little timeline confusion. It's a story about a downfall of a vain man-child who couldn't grow up. It's also a story about investing in the dumbest of things. It's a solid 4 star piece that I'll gladly watch again only for the beautiful colors and the great makeup on Zack Galifianakis' face.

Wasteful
10 May 2023
What a waste of time, money and Toni Collette. The script is likely a mishmash of gags from older and actually good movies. The acting is extraordinarily bad. The music is terrible and annoying. Directed in the most unimaginative way. Even the makeup is horrible, making both Collette and Bellucci appear older than they are.

I loved Sophia Nomvete in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power and she's totally underutilized here. Monica Bellucci is mediocre as ever. I was extremely disappointed with the Toni Collette because I know she's actually a capable actress. Here she couldn't even fake cry.

I can't imagine who signed off this junk. Save your money and time and choose something better.

Top of the avoid list

Absolutely no redeeming qualities as far as this movie goes. Acting? Bad. Directing? Bad. Script? The worst. Music? Bad. Comedy? Nope. Stunts? Yeah, bad. Even the costumes were mediocre at best. Zero chemistry between the supposed love interests. I didn't follow Ana de Armas so I'm not sure if she's just a pretty face but she's really awful here. Adrien Brody is clearly here to please his banker. His part is so poorly written he's being a cartoonish villain. The very charming Chris Evans has been that done that milkin' that. Also, whoever wrote this script obviously knows nothing about house plants. You do not water a Begonia every other day. This movie is so bad in every way.

Killer Sally (2022)

You believe her until you don't
27 April 2023
Sally seems like an extremely nice abd straightforward lady for the entire first episode and then the cracks cone out. By the end of episode 2 she seems rigid, jealous, and irresponsible. By the end of episode 3 you dislike her altogether.

While this show touches some controversial issues such as parenting, toxic relationships, obsession, self growth within a marriage etc, Sally herself has trouble heading these discussions. Sally isn't as deep nor sophisticated as the show needed her to be. The result is she's portrayed as a probable lying violent woman who was so drug fuelled she shot her also violent drug abusing husband in the face. This is such an unfair and quite frankly shallow portrayal of dv.

Nonsense
26 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Mom and young daughter lose their husband and father. Fast forward twelve years, mom is now leaving for vacation with some dude and daughter is an annoying teenager who never turns off her laptop and camera.

Mom and dude don't come back from their vacation and daughter is investigating their disappearance from her always-on laptop. She is assisted by a middle-aged errand boy who at times tries to sound all Yoda.

This started like a horror movie then took a turn to a hallmark movie and then decided it's a thriller after all. True crime enthusiasts may recognize real life cases some of the stories here are based on. Final twist was so silly I just laughed out loud. Expect nothing and you may enjoy this.

So boring
26 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
A group of rich people travel to a remote island to dine at some fancy restaurant but nothing is as it seems. This movie was made a dozen times already. A lot of star power, too many characters but none of them get a chance to develop. Plot twists are ridiculous at best. Directing was so distant one wouldn't care even when characters blow their heads off. Adding courses' descriptions was a nice touch, heavily inspired by how that was done in Fight Club (which I'd have watched for the 200th time instead of this movie). The pace was way too slow. The satire - not at all sophisticated. Huge disappointment for me and a miss all around.

Could and should have been better
8 October 2022
The styling was terrific and the 30s horror movie vibes great too. It's also a unique story especially for Marvel, portraying monsters in a different way.

I get that it's for comic die hard fans who know all about the Man-Thing. Unfortunately, I am not and for people like me this movie was disappointing.

The plot could comfortably fill a 15 minutes YouTube short rather than 50 minutes, so it dragged aimlessly. The acting seemed weak and most characters underutilized. Laura Donnelly's Elsa was okay. Gael García Bernal's Jack was off.

For me this was a great promise which wasn't fulfilled. It seems like yet another endeavour to milk and exploit the Marvel brand with b-grade produce.

Loved it 15 years ago

Revisiting old loved movies seems to be a tedious process as most don't hold up with time. This one is no exception. It's a loud mouth, overly scripted detective tale. Decent acting by Val Kilmer, not so much by RDJ. Michelle Monaghan's character is under developed and so is her work here. Just okay.

Awful

An outdated comedy in poor taste. Mike Myers does his usual playing an absurd amount of poorly written characters. Other actors are just horrible. Myers clearly has a lot of clout, there's just no other reason for anyone to okay this mess.

Mind numbing lies
24 July 2021
So let me see if i get this: a 43 year old woman with a small "escape fund" and zero education and/or ties in the fashion industry, escapes her ultra-orthodox jewish family. With the tiny sum she saved up she starts an international(!) shoe brand. Within a year this brand is sold to a major lingerie brand and she, again - still no relevant education or lifelong experience, is named creative director of said brand. A short while after, she's appointed CEO of a global modelling agency. What an inspiring, self-made woman!

Oh, BTW, she happens to be married to some rich Italian dude who owns both the lingerie brand AND the agency.

So fake made.
