Atlas (2024)
Terminator Atlas
This is 100 percent a rip off of the terminator franchise and fixed to give Jennifer Lopez a leading role action Netflex movie. Now, this is the facts! But well say there exist a "terminator-like" genre where every film with evil AI is taking over the world is placed...hiw well does this one stack up? JLo does a very good job playing a unsecure analyst that has hidden trama and blamed herself for the AI takeover whilst having to come to pass with advanced AI itself. That is a good AI vs. A bad AI...ring any bells. The evil AI concept is rather weak and boring to watch. But the good AI has a unique feel that reminds me of a Titan from the video game Titan Fall. It is a fairly quick movie that does not bore too much over action scenes. This would be for people intrated in terminator-like movies.
Shôgun (2024)
The captive has a voice
I enjoyed watching this show episode by episode and I knew it needs a season two more than any other show I have watched. I do fear that the story could burn itself out and leave a lame stale taste in the audience if the writers try to extend the series for too long. But, in terms of screening, the show is intense with Japanese war lore decorating the grips fantastic. The communication between the foreign and the Japanese is well given making the story more full of flavor with a entertaining edge rather than a busted language barrier. The tension between the characters is surreal which gives the audience a sense that the story is actually happening rather than a scripted play. If your into the culture of the samurai or Japanese war cultural history, this is a must watch. I hope season two is just as gripping.
3 Body Problem (2024)
Interesting Alien Concept
The classic idea that aliens are invading the earth is put to the test in the modern era of physics series. The concentration on physic theory is mediocre but the collision with anti-physic movement in 1960s is well played. How does this lead to a alien invasion? Well, it turns out to be a rebellion against humanity by a victimized physisist of the anti-physic movements. The communication with a alien intelligence occurs and once they learn of our co-existence, they create a push to invade. It's that simple but there is a catch to the equation. The Aleins will take 400 years of space travel to reach Earth. Once it's conceived by human society, the series just feels dumber. 400 years later...etc.
Movie 43 (2013)
The movie is doomed
From a plot standpoint; two knuckleheads are trying to get famous on YouTube. When the computer nerd little brother continues to hack their plans, they plan to infest his computer with porn viruses. How? Give him the idea that a secret horror movie is on the dark web and only his computer nerd skills will be able to find it. The search leads to a doomsday senario. HAHAHA. The rest of this movie is dictated by the repetitive search of a movie code named movie 43, which yields a rediculous net of skits that are often humorous and/or outcasted scenarios. This movie is meant to be farce and should not be taken as a good comedy.
Road House (2024)
Not a fair fight
A bar fight fueled action movie full of Hollywood fight scenes. The key fighter is the infamous bouncer at the bar and grill called "Road House". He is a ex-fighter that's been "bounced" from legit UFC competition for illegal fighting in the ring. He is a very confident in his ability to send a wannabe to the hospital and send a legit fighter to the grave. The story employs the classic turf war between a drug gangster and the local bar. The fighting is a bit ridiculous while the story semi-functional. I found the movie a hollywood bum fight more so than a legit UFC competition. If you like seeing people getting their rears kicked, this is a movie for you.
Dream Scenario (2023)
That is ridiculous.
The story of a washed up professor that needs some leverage in his life to escape a foreseeable midlife crisis. Seems like a basic enough scenario that leads most professors to publishing a book to enhance their career. Basically overnight, lets add having a dreaming problem...not the average nightmare problem...how about a never before seen dreaming trend amungst a mass populous. This story is well played by Nick Cage "the old man" but the entire dream scenario is absurd. I consider this a dream movie that crosses between comedy, drama, and horror. If you enjoy movies about dream states, I recommend this to you.
The Game Changers (2018)
Is it fact or fiction
The entire idea of exercise and muscle growth has been a model ideal that has slowly overtaken many aspect of society and this documentary give a sturdy ground for people to reassess what they have been putting into their bodies for the sake of this societal pressure. The documentary is gives a very sharp edge to the dietary concept or misconcepts and exposes them not only with general study and experiment but with real testimony from professional athletes. If you are a person in athletics or live a lifestyle with fitness as a aspect, this flim may give you a edge and reason to improve your diet like never before. Or at least give it a fighting chance.
Damsel (2024)
A cool dragon movie
I hate to say this is a Millie Bobby Brown movie, but it seems it. The story is actually lame and plays into a classic tale of a sacrificial agreement between a King and a Dragon made and upheld for the sake of his bloodline and kingdom. While the story grows into mild disappointment, the performance by Millie is quite the contrary. The tricked young women pulls an astonishing sharp mind to NOT only escape but tame the blood bonded dragon. The action adventure and suspense is well groomed and makes for good entertainment to say the least. I would recommend this movie to people looking for a short dragon adventure or fans of MBB.
Unthinkable (2010)
Just another Samuel L Jackson Movie
I hate to say it, but this is just another Samuel L Jackson movie ya'll. He plays a the role of a harden interrogation expert with a resume of hidden torture techniques and thus does the UNTHINKABLE acts to get the answers the government needs. Jackson enter the role with a lack luster poise that seems overly sloppy and poor but does manage to pull over a seemly psychotic interrogator being held by the government for the sake of the people and his own family. The story does spur intense torture and interrogation but grows impractical and ridiculous which is why I would call it a Sammy L Jackson movie. Recommend for Sammy L fans or fans of terrorist interrogation flims.
Wonka (2023)
Chocolate so good, make you wanna slap yo'momma
The basic story of willy wonka's chocolate factory always gave me the feeling of a mad scientist that sought experimental and crazy ways to create candy that would be unique sought after by comsumers. This movie gave a decent grip on that concept but it simple made Willy Wonka deemable as a magician with a fairy tale idea implanted into chocolate candy making. I would have preferred to see Willy Wonka as a mad scientist that worked long and hard creating methods and constructing experiments in candy. However, the script gives a good adventure where an unfair and corrupt force has to be overthrown for, not only justice, but chocolate to prevail. I would recommend this to all Willy Wonka or on screen musical fans.
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom (2023)
Yippy, another one.
The sensation of being able to live and thrive under the sea like SpongeBob. This movie does justice in creating a story for the new emperor of Atlantis to finally embrace his role as the head honcho. I found many superhero segments of the movie to be electrifying while at other times outright ridiculous to watch. The base of the story feels fair to concieve with the party out to get revenge whilst being influenced by a supernatural evil and the family that has to come together to prevent the revenge seeker. I would have to recommend this to DC fanatics or people wanting to see a overdose of Jason Momoa.
Life (2017)
Like Alien
This story is a chip straight off the Alien franchise but within grasp of actually occuring rather than full blown science fiction. It leads a mission to Mars to collect samples and experiment on possible life...LIFE. And from there, you basically got a version of Alien but everyone dies and the Alien managers to return to earth for LIFE 2. NOT. But really. The film is intense with a fully survival horror feel. The lead antagonist (the Martian lifeform) is a delight to see as it is a unique creature that grows from a microorganism type specimen into a monster. I would recommend this movie to anyone that enjoys horror survival or space missions movies.
Spaceman (2024)
Dig the space vibes
Is it me or is this another Sandler's flick. He goes about talking to what we presume is either a extra terrestrial or a figment of a maddening man's imagination. He names his imaginary friend hAnus which enjoys yearning for the toilet bowl far too much. So, its about Sandler mad off the crapper trying to phone home like an extra terrestrial ... Hummmm, LMAO. Not you everyday space walk. Seriously, the flim itself give off a decent vibe for the mystery of space and creation whilst showing the struggles between a man and wife while sperated for an extend time and yearning rediscovery. Plus Dano.
Code 8 (2019)
Sifi in the real world
The flims setting gave me a feeling of the standard american republic that has set restricted laws against certain people with supernatural power (which may mean to translate into representing a real world strand of bigotry). These enforeced retrictive laws create a poverty in community which corresponds to criminal affairs, specific creating a vice city where a special drug created by harvesting people with supernatural powers fluids. So, it's a vice city sifi where overcoming adversity motivates. The chemistry in the flim feels different because superpower is a common rather than the ultimate rarety. Its hard to construct an audience but it seems to appeal to people that enjoy characters with superpowers.
Nobody (2021)
Surprise.
The action is satisfactorily accompanying the escape that is sought after by the lead actor, Hutch. Hutch himself plays the very everyday ordinary and indifferent nobody life as a father being bullied by his current nine-five lifestyle, "not that there's anything wrong with that." The film is driven by Hutch escaping the nine to five and pursuing his desired "past life" as a secret government auditor (as he likes to call it) which spirals seemingly out of control. This out of control order does make the film feel a bit too ridiculous. I would recommend the movie to anyone that likes fighting and action movies.
Oppenheimer (2023)
Kabooooom
I don't know why this movie got so much praise. It is very jarring and captivating to witness the life of J. Robert Oppenheimer in a formula that is nonlinear but that unique quality can make the story had to face. The many pressures Oppenheimer undergoes throughout his life life are depicted exceptionally well. You can also gain a picture of how everyone may have given into his abilities as a physisist and his likeness as the father of the atom bomb but many held a reason to dislike him. If I could chamge one thing, I would jave given better titles or chapters to the various points in the film to keep the audience attentive. I recommend this film to people who enjoy historical war & propaganda movies.
The Last Voyage of the Demeter (2023)
A dark survival journey
The flim gives a good take on a ship captain's planned last voyage at sea as his crew is meet with a unplanned measured of the same. The presense of Dracula is meet with disbelief as a small town tale of a demon meant to scare children rather than a known main stream threat. The Dracula charater itself is very demon like rather than a humanoid vampire. The film becomes a survival horror rotating around who will be killed next. The movie could have been better with more enlightenment on Dracula's current presence in society. I would recommend this flim to fans of vampire, survival horror, or sea journey movies.
Seraphim Falls (2006)
Nice western bounty
The personal vengeance to bounty hunt and capture a man's soul for his wrongs. This story is very straightforward but develops with very well making it enjoyable to watch. The struggles of the lone suspect trying to survive being hunter down by bounty hunters and their foreman. The journey pushes through a vivid mountain range and move along a desert land scape. The clash between the two men is exposed along the way creating a intense sense between them. There is some missing points about the individual pasts during the civil war that might have giving deeper strength in the characters. I would recommend this to anyone that enjoys see a bounty hunt or a western.
Heist 88 (2023)
The chemistry of a heist.
The film works through a given opportunity for a criminal to strike riches ine last time and the only way to do it is with a team of young gullible inside employees willing to leave their ordinary day to day life for an escape to a hidden affair full of riches. The film story is built on the trust and bonding between the youths and their ability to coordinate with their new criminal tasks while the law seeks to prevail. The sequencing in the film is geared towards building suspense and tension on whether or not they will pull off the hiest. I would recommend this to anyone who like the Ocean's movies.
Dumb Money (2023)
What's the deal with GameStop
I remember hearing about GameStop in the news have a growing stock that was very out of the ordinary. As I have little knowledge of the stock exchange, this film does justice to explain the antics that took place and the people involved in the situation. The true story is protrayed with mild humor to ease the anger that many audience members may feel for having missed out on the opportunity to earn money on the GameStop stock growth. The film allows the viewer to have a sence of fear and opportunity that exist in the stock market. I would recommend this to youngsters with money and needing a desire to invest the money.
Self Reliance (2023)
Craziness Expressed in Funniness
The movie gives you a fast dive into the world of a man that's down on his luck and recently moved back in his mother's house. This character is given a chance to play a "dark web" game for a million dollars where he must survive 30 days with people trying to hunt and murder him. The only loop hole the game has is that the player can't be killed while with in arms reach of a near person. The movie script displays the player's paranoia and making people believe the scenario he is in which is where the comical load develops. The movie does lack action packed sequences. I would recommend this to people looking for a mild action film that carries its script with humorous antics and situations.
The Midnight Meat Train (2008)
Investigative Horror
The film is driven by the desire to take the photo that catches a momment in time that exposes the reality that is hidden amongst our daily lives. This desire is punctuated with an obsession to solve a serial murder mystery that everyone is covering up and finding help to solve is completely impossible. The mission to break the case expels the mystery to the audience but the members of the cast prove the cover up is part of the city's life and can only possess those seeking to end it. The film itself could have had more development but it was good enough. I would recommend this to anyone into Horror and slasher flims or serial murder investigation films.
The Underdoggs (2024)
Movie can be hard to watch.
The base of the story is directly in the line of films such as Little Giants, Gridiron Gang, The Mean Green, or even Sandlot. However, the film does very little justice for itself when the scipt is complied of R rated language. Many times the foul language dictates and overpowers the storyline and creates a bad image for the audience to embrass. The bad boy image and all the bad language ought have been turned down more often to create caution and care for the script. I do find the distasteful language to collide with the game losing finale that brings a positive message for children; You deserve an A for your effort even though your the loser on pin & paper. I would recommend this movie only to people that can stick out a film full of cursing and willing to hold onto until the end. Final words...it could have been better.
2 Days in the Valley (1996)
Has potential that it fails to reach
The story is quick and slides you into a romantic drama that getting ready to spill into a hitman movie. The characters seem to be unrealistically developed and you have to assume what has lead each character to this point in their conflicts. This makes the tale a little boring and stale and need to rely on the ideal of this being a "murder tale" rather than a genuine drama. The conflicts themselves express revenge, betrayal, money and sex, trust, success and failures, and of course A New Begining. All of these coordinated conflicts that do not have much to grip on. At least, the film does have the sharp penetrating roleplay that enhances the choice to keep watching.
Midsommar (2019)
What in the hell is going on here?
You know that one ideal place where your mind dips when you day dream and there are fields full of flowers and a breeze running through the grass, imagine that little peice of heaven. Now lets fill it with people that live there secluded from mainstream society and all of it's rules. A people that have developed a culture of peace and absent from violençe with ceremonies, festivities, and rituals. Now lets put the ultimatum into the equation, a tradition of sacrifice and not simply the Lenten sacrifice but deadly sacrifice. This movie is well played but is absolutely a ridiculous concept to wrap my head around.
