Bull Shark (2022)
The crazy little Shark film that caught me by surprise
When I first heard about Bull Shark, I was hesitant. I honestly believed I would not like the film. When I saw it for the first time...I was pleasantly surprised on how good the film turned out. It was way better than I expected. I didn't love the film, but this is a film I would be happy to watch again. I do plan on buying it on DVD when it releases in April. Brett Bentman in my opinion is a truly underrated writer and director.. who does a great job in telling compelling character driven stories. I hope people will give this film a chance if they are hesitant because I think they would be surprised how good the film really is.
Monumental (2016)
Monumental: The Journey of two characters goin through heartaches and overcoming it
My first impression of Monumental was that this is a phenomenal story. There is a lot the film has going for it. This was actually the film that made me a Gary Cairns fan because his performance in this film was so good that I noticed his true acting range. Luke Albright is another actor that is also someone to look out for. I love the fact that the road trip these guys took in this film was real. And you can see all the things they go through has some way, shape or form has made them a better person. The character story is phenomenal. My main gripe with the film is from a technical standpoint. The way some shots were edited didn't turn out all that great. Including some of the sound edit. But when you learn what they had to go through to get the shots with the constant hurdles they had to go through...to me it was obvious they did the best they could with they were able to pull off. I appreciate that Gary who also wrote the script, really focused on making a compelling character story and it shows. After watching this film, I saw great potential and if given te opportunity both Gary and Luke I believe can show what they're really capable of to a mainstream audience. I would definitely recommend checking out the film and don't let the technical flaws of the film deter you from finish watching it...because you would miss out on seeing what these guys are truly capable of pulling off...especially if given the budget, time and resources. Cheers.
Hell Hath No Fury (2021)
Hell Hath No Fury the hidden gem of 2021
Hell Hath No Fury is a film that is an amalgamation of the years of hard work that everyone who worked on this project, were not only able to showcase possibly their best so far, but also showcase they are getting better. Jesse V. Johnson directed his best film to date. Katharine Lee McEwan who wrote the script did a phenomenal job. Nina Bergman puts on a stellar performance and truly showcases that she can hang with the elites in acting. Daniel Bernhardt, Charles Fathy, Josef Cannon, Dominique Vandenberg, Timothy V. Murphy, Luke Lafontaine and Louis Mandylor bring in their A game in this film. The story is very compelling and a lot of times leaves wondering if you can truly trust the characters and their motivations. This is truly really well done film in all fronts. This is not an action film despite what the trailer may make you think. This is a well thought out story that deals with a characters journey through the hardships of war and you are left to wonder how they are able to go through with it and keep their sanity. Highly recommend.
Daylight's End (2016)
Daylight's End Underrated Post-Apocalyptic Film
I came across Daylight's End 2-3 years ago after I watched "The Brave" in which both films are Directed by William Kaufman. I was blown away with how good the film is. I was surprised that the film didn't reach a cult status that I believe warrants. This is very character driven piece and the film is directed and acted beautifully. Johnny Strong is the lead and he is a force to be reckon with. The acting is top notch and the action is phenomenal. Watch this film asap especially if you love "The Road Warrior:...I think you will be pleased.
Cherokee Creek (2018)
Cherokee Creek the hidden Horror Gem
I love the horror genre. It is my 2nd favorite genre of all time after action. But this is a genre that is an acquired taste. But every once and a while there comes a film that exceeds all expectations when it comes to the viewing experience and I can honestly say that Cherokee Creek was that. I love this film. This is the type of film that makes the horror/slasher genre great. Director Todd Jenkins made a gem of a film that true film lovers can appreciate.
