Web of Make Believe: Death, Lies and the Internet (2022)
Amazing the Special Interest Hit Squads didn't blame Trump for EVERY issue!
It started okay about Swatting then turned into extremely biased "conservatives are evil" propaganda. Yes there are some real whack jobs that are conservatives. Ted Bundy was a Conservative! But the liberals got plenty of crazies too! John Wayne Gacy was a liberal!
Maybe if they presented an even approach it could have been watchable.
The Book of Boba Fett: Chapter 6: From the Desert Comes a Stranger (2022)
In Filoni We Trust
I understand why some dislike of the way Boba Fett's character has developed but let's be honest The Mandalorian show stole most of his thunder. Literally all of what made Boba Fett a cult favorite; the mystique, mystery and essence of the masked man all were distilled into the Mandalorian show. That said Boba's show needed to be something different but not too different. I believe Temuera Morrison doesn't posses the level of acting prowess that most series leading actors exhibit which is to be expected since he's not an A list talent. His inexperience is why I fell there was a lack of gradual change of character traits for Fetts transformation from killer for hire to anti-hero. Like for instance, he should have strangled the Rodian in episode 1 but he didn't. Regardless he is the face so it is a confine that they are forced to work with.
Overall this is a satisfying series to me, especially after suffering under years of Darth Kennedy's poisonous influence. Her decision to spit in the face of her longtime friend George Lucas and toss everything he had developed nearly destroyed the franchise and if Clone Wars, Rebels and Lucas Padawan Dave Filoni and his gang didn't exist then I would have considered SW to be dead. Mandalorian was a huge win and while Boba Fett has its issues it is by far the best we could have hoped since Darth Kennedy still has an office in the company.
Dave Filoni, thank you for this episode and for all the great SW you have given us. It's only going to get better.
Star Wars: Heir to the Empire (2019)
Not bad but could have been made much better with a little extra.
The biggest weakness in this is the big disparity between the voice actors. It looks like the creator/director decided to voice a few of the characters rather then leave the job to the talented voice actors who are already involved. Unfortunately the disparity between his acting and the others is large and it's extremely distracting to the point where it almost ruins the production. Just a bit more work on the audio could have gone a long way to making things better.
Raising Dion (2019)
Doesn't know who it's target audience is.
This is labeled as a kids show but no kid I know would sit through the long drawn out relationship side story fluff. In fact there is so much relationship drama (including intimate heterosexual and lesbian relationships) which are far above what should be in a kids show. Also the sudden pigeonholing of the "racist school teacher hating a 7-year-old" storyline was super cringe-worthy.
The other lanes it has is as sci-fi but there is so much soap opera type storyline that it bloats the overarching plot. It gives a small dose of sci-fi occasionally then goes back into the back and forth friend zone storyline.
All in all the story would be better if they had picked one style and stayed with it then made 6 well edited episodes rather then the 9 bloated episodes we ended up with.
Count Me In (2021)
So glad the focused on ONLY the best drummers.
So glad they focused 1/4 of the film on a couple drummers who have only been playing for about decade, if that. Wouldn't want to mention some Canadian drummer guy who was just kinda ok, what's his name? Neal Perl? Or was it Alex Peart? Oh well. Nobody knows who he is anyway.
I would have turned it off if they had mentioned that lightweight stick banger from Tool. They're just some wannabe punk band anyway right? So boring with the same 4/4 beat all the time.
*a note for the thick brained among us, I am BEING SARCASTIC!
