Barnaby Jones: Memory of a Nightmare (1978)
Another excellent episode.
Barnaby Jones consistently provides entertaining shows season after season.
This has action, suspense and even some hypnosis thrown in.
Betty is great as she always is.
You will be thrilled to see this case unfold and delighted by the conclusion. Excellent.
What's Happening!!: Doobie or Not Doobie: Part 1 (1978)
One of the greatest events in the history of television.
One of the greatest events in the history of television. It is an excellent two part episode. Most tv shows when they have a musical guest will usually have only a single song and maybe not even a hit. The Doobies went all out and played a bunch of their biggest hits. They are also an intregal part of the plot having great interaction with the series' stars. Great plot too. Solid gold ten.
The Streets of San Francisco: Flags of Terror (1974)
This is how the plot outline should read and it's a good episode...
This is how the plot outline should read and it's a good episode...
Terrorists armed with bombs and guns take several people including Keller hostage on a boat. Stone works with police and feds to coordinate a rescue. His efforts are complicated by a journalist who attempts to glorify the terrorists's communist cause and a vengeful father whose daughter was killed by the terrorists.
Barnaby Jones: A Ransom in Diamonds (1978)
Felton Perry playing a good guy in this great back door pilot!
This is really good. Plenty of action and comedy mixed in. I mostly remember Felton Perry playing sime crazy scary bad guys in shows like Adam 12 and Ironside and he did that very well. He is great here as a wise cracking young lawyer partnered with a young private eye. It could have made a decent series. I liked it. Even though it looks like a BDP Barnaby, Betty and JR are right there in the action and fun too.
Cannon: The House of Cards (1976)
Pernell Roberts gets de-wigged.
This is a ten for sure. It's worth watching just to see the scene where Cannon snatches the wig off his head! One of the greatest scenes from the series. Don't miss this one. It is a great mystery too. Classic Cannon.
The Streets of San Francisco: The Twenty-Five Caliber Plague (1974)
The old Saturday Night Special story.
This is the SOSF's take on the old Saturday Night Special story where they trace an el cheapo pistol as it changes hands over the course of a few days. It's purchased by a man with good intentions, stolen, ditched, picked up by some kids and more. Most of the cop shows have done one of these episodes. Streets does it well...better than Quincy and some of the other 70's shows. It's an interesting and fairly realistic story told without being too preachy. A good cast of characters including the SFPD lab man played by Vince Howard, Jonathan Goldsmith as a sleazy two bit hustler and Lee Montgomery as the typical punk kid he usually played.
Overall this is a good episode but not a favorite of mine.
Coach: War of the Dopes (1992)
No drama just lots of laughs. Non stop comedy.
If you like slapstick comedy you will love this episode. Luther and Dauber's outrageous antics are hilarious.
No drama just lots of laughs.
B.L. Stryker: The Dancer's Touch (1989)
Not a good respresentation of what the series is really like.
This first episode of the series is a lot darker and more sinister than every other BL Stryker episode.
It is dealing with a very disturbed psociopath and may be entertaing to some but I did not enjoy it a lot.
As the series progresses and the characters are developed they find a winning formula that is consistently entertaing so don't be put off by the first episode. Keep watching!
Stingray: Cry Wolf (1987)
Good story, solid casting, great dialogue and plenty of action.
This episode is a solid 10. Unlike many Stringray episodes that have a very dark sinister feel this episode has just the right ammount of comedy mixed in with the action and suspense. Jeff Conaway is very entertaining in this role and his character has great chemistry with Ray. Good story, solid casting, great dialogue and plenty of action.
