Too Close to Cool Runnings
30 March 2016
Warning: Spoilers
First off let me say I was an Eddie the Eagle fan during the Olympics. I don't remember the Jamaican Bob Sled team getting much attention in the Press and was only made aware of them in the movie Cool Runnings.

I think the movie could have used two lesser known actors than Jackman and Walken in their roles. But the parallels to Cool Runnings were strikingly similar. Underdog, coached by a disgraced former Olympian, (Candy and Jackman) whose coaches never forgave them for their transgressions and just happen to be present at the current Olympic locale. Their Country's Olympic Committees sternly against them etc. I guess the Director figured 23 years between the movies was long enough to take liberties.

Jackman's use of the orgasm was covered in the movie Harry met Sally and was unnecessary. I also felt he was trying too hard in scenes because of who he is. Too much Wolverine which by the way I enjoyed him in.

However that aside all the other actors were good in this movie and it is a feel good movie as well as a tear jerker. Guilty as charged. If you like these types of movies, as I do, you will like this as well.

Hawaii Five-0: Ma Ke Kahakai (Shore) (2011)
Season 1, Episode 20
5/10
One of the weakest episodes
13 April 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Steve and Danny go hiking in the jungle and just happen to stumble upon a dead body that is almost still warm. A little bit too convenient. I find that when Chin and Kono interact in a family storyline the show lags. She should stick to drop kicking 250lbs guys.lol The main storyline revolves a father jetting his murderous son out of the country to avoid prosecution. Now if the father ships his son out of the country why doesn't he stay with him rather than come back to kill the witness and set both of them up with murder raps? The end was even a little bit more bizarre with Chin and Kono sitting with the boys having drinks at The Hawaiian Village instead of being at their dieing Aunts bedside, especially since she is not supposed to make it through the night? I really like this series but this one I think they mailed in. I hope it's not a trend.

A few problems
13 September 2008
Warning: Spoilers
First let me say I enjoy Duvall, Wahlberg, and Pheonix (although I have a difficult time understanding him with the Johnny Cash snarl and mumbles.) I had 3 main problems here none of which mentioned Eva's bad acting which is a given.

1. The Russians have a hit contract out on the top cops, the cops know this, and they are still alive? Does the BLA ring a bell here? 2. When they raid the lab and the big guy is trying to go out the window the cops say "back up to my voice" Yeah right. He'd be dead in a NYC minute. Then as the most wanted criminal in NYC he fakes a heart attack and escapes. 3. Finally Grandpa brings the grandchildren to a French Connection meeting. I think it was actually the same set used on FC. I saw a lot of The Departed in here also.

I think it wouldn't have been too much of a stretch here to have turned this into an Airplane type of parody on the cop movies. And probably would have been better served.

Classic bad TV
12 May 2006
A Howard Cosell variety show. I think Roone was smoking something when he came up with this idea. The one classic moment I will always remember on the show was Howard and Barbara Walters singing a duet. This show was soooo bad that it actually has camp value. ( song and dance routines with Ali and OJ for instance) One interesting point was SNL couldn't use live in their title because Howard had it in his. They had to say "Live! it's Saturday Night." When the finally canceled this show after a year SN became SNL. I was actually a fan of Cosell when he was covering sports. Anyone who remembers Monday Night Football when Howard was doing it will remember it was an EVENT! After he left the show it just became another game.

Andy's Gang (1955–1960)
10/10
Song
15 July 2003
The song went (I think)

I got a gang, You got a gang Everybody's got to have a gang. But there's only one real true old gang it's Good Old Andy's gang.

Pluck your magic twanger Froggy (a cloud of smoke) Hiya Kids Hiya Hiya Hiya

Does your shoe have a boy inside? what a funny place for a boy to hide. Does your shoe have a dog there too? A boy and a dog and foot in a shoe. Well the boy is Buster Brown and the dog is Tige his friend and its really just a picture but it's fun to play pretend. So look look look in your telephone book for the store that sells the shoe with the picture of the boy and the dog there too so you can put your foot into, a Buster Brown shoe.

Saurday morning line up

1.Crusader Rabbit and Rags the Tiger 2.Andy's Gang, 3.Howdy Doody,4.Roy Rogers, 5.Fury, 6.Sky King, and 7.My Friend Flicka

Royal Flush (down the toilet)
9 September 2002
Quite possibly the worst movie I ever saw. Everyone who's opinion I asked said the same thing which makes me wonder how this movie ever got a 7.8 out of 10. I never was so disappointed in a Gene Hackman film. Probably too intellectual for us.
