Captive State (2019)
7/10
An underrated movie
13 June 2021
Captive State is a sci-fi movie directed by Ruper Wyatt who decides to take it easy and tell a completely different story than the typical Hollywood blockbuster. It is in this decision where the film gains strength. But let's be clear, Captive State is not a perfect movie, far from it. But it is an extremely imaginative film, with such intriguing concepts as revolution and aliens. It is a master class that explains how a revolutionary cell operates in a fictitious situation and gives us a thriller that makes us tense at times and intrigues us in others. Despite not having fully explored characters, the film builds an intriguing world with well-shot scenes and an ending that will leave you glued to your seat and asking for more. Captive State is not perfect, but it is definitely a recommendation.

Sweet Tooth (2021– )
9/10
A beautiful adaptation
13 June 2021
Sweet Tooth is an incredible surprise for fans of the DC comic. It shows us the life of Gus, a reindeer boy, from a completely different point of view. The series decides to lighten the dark tone of the comic by changing the axis of the chapters to a mixture of tenderness and innocence. But it doesn't completely erase the sinister and more adult aspect of the comics. He simply adapts it so that children and adults can enjoy the series. The first two chapters and the last two are perfect. But the others go down a bit in quality, which affects the final result of this review. And removing this detail and some others, such as the terrible special effects and the occasional visual decision, Sweet Tooth is a highly recommended series, which although it is not for everyone, the vast majority will fall in love with Gus and his attractive universe. Now we only have to wait for a second season.

Awake (III) (2021)
4/10
A waste of potential
13 June 2021
This film is the clear example of a plot, which at first glance gives a lot of itself, but ends up being a boring film full of clichés and comforts. Director Mark Raso demonstrates in small scenes how innovative he can be, but the rest of the film denotes simplicity and minimal effort on the part of the entire team. It's a shame that a movie with a lot of potential ended up being a cluster of bad acting, a regrettable and short-lived story that turns into an endless martyrdom. Not counting a couple of scenes, it's a completely forgettable movie from Netflix's great catalog.

Wish Dragon (2021)

Beautiful and full of heart
13 June 2021
A Sony Animation film that adapts the typical Disney plot, and turns it into something completely original. Of course, the film falls into the occasional cliche, and the message it leaves may be somewhat childish. But the beautiful animation and the elaborate characters fill with vitality a film that, in other hands would have been one of the many, but that in the hands of Appelhans becomes a beautiful film to remember.
