The War of the Worlds 2021 (2021)
I signed in just to write about how cr@p this movie is.
I didn't really care to remember the names of any of the characters so do go ahead and laugh when I say 'the lady' or whatever.
I probably should have seen it coming when I didn't see any major movie production companies at the start of the movie. But it just went downhill from there. About ten minutes in it was just talk, talk and bloody talk. I actually came on here to look at the reviews and... well. I guess that explains it. One and a half minutes and I only really watched about fifteen of it.
It looked like it was filmed in someone's back yard. The CGI was terrible and the story made no sense.
The characters that were introduced were somehow 'connected'? The lady in the hospital plays absolutely no part in the rest of the movie but wait.... THAT'S MY UNCLE?
There's that guy that drives the airliner into the alien tripod only to be shot down and eaten. The alien literally picks the guy up and eats him like a snickers bar! You can even hear the guts sound as if the lady in the shot was right next to him. Listening to that... mmm. Spaghetti.
My total highlight from the whole movie would probably have been at the end when the lady killed the alien with a spray bottle. A SPRAY BOTTLE!? I'm sad. Where's the action from the first movie? The blood and guts. Realistic shooting effects, Rockets??
I'm going to resound another users hubris here. Hollywood, why is it that only USA gets targeted by alien incursions and other disastrous events? There are other contries out there too ya know!?

Watch for the action
This was a great watch if you're into the sci-fi genre. Its got all the points for quality scenery and good sound design at key points where it counts. I was particularly interested in the high-tech environment that the movie was cast on and how much detail they went into for the sci-fi parts of the space station.
As I watched, I grew less interested in the story as I could predict a lot of what was going to happen. The occasional plot twist or revealer only answered my questions. Some of the scenes left me stunned, and probably not in a good way. The special effects felt too rushed; sub-par in some scenes and didn't allow enough time to process exactly what was going on during the scenes they were present. And I found the cuts to the action annoying as it broke immersion and made me question the movie and its story even more. I felt like the story progressed from scene to scene without making much sense and leaving out a lot of important detail.
This was an interesting watch. Got to hand it to snow's comedy at panic-stricken times during the movie. Even the over use of the voice sensor explosives was funny, just because of the reaction of the prisoners as they triggered them. Snow didn't seem to have an inventory. He was given only one coiled charge only to pull more and then some from his prison pocket, if you know what I mean.
Funny at parts, annoying at others, but overall interesting take on the sci-fi genre. It has left me hungry for more. I felt like this movie would have been better as a TV show.
