The Green Knight (2021)
The green knight
This is a wierd confusing and dizzy adventure. And i had a lot of fun. I felt like I took a bunch of lsd and sat down to watch dev patel being a medical knight for 2 hours. I loved it. The visuals are amazing. I cant say a lot about it because i am still processing it. Watch it and form your own oppinion.
Pig (2021)
Suprisingly thought provoking and good.
This doesn't feel like a directorial debut because there is a lot of skillful camera moment that feels very masterful. This is not so nic cage revenge movie. Its deep and has alot to say about capitalism and the food industry. Watch this!!
Loki (2021)
Fun, well made, well acted, but boring and cringey at times..
Tom Hiddleston is great. This tv show felt less like Loki show and more like TVA show. The characters had good relationships and the dialogue was well written. Some things that Loki did didn't feel justified with his character arc. Nevertheless, it was a thought provoking and fun ride.
Mrs. America (2020)
Breathtakingly well directed and powerhouse performeances.
I loved this mini series. There is amazing story writing, cinematography, score, and most of all acting. The story is intriguing and binge worthy. I am not an expert on historical accuracy though so I cant say anything about that. Cate Blanchett is just aweing and pulled off the best performance i've seen in a while. This is not a very well known show so I hope there is a boost in popularity some time soon..
Soul (2020)
Stunning animation and score in this mesmerising meditation on the meaning of life.
Let me start off like this. Please watch this movie before you see any trailers or hear any spoilers. I would recommend going into this blind. Here is why I love this movie.
1. The score is beautiful and life affirming. The score is a very important thing to a movie like this with heavy visuals. This score by Jon Batiste matches the movie perfectly and adds so much to the film.
2. The story is obviously extremely thought out and thought provokingly poignant. Im not going to say anything about it further so you get to enjoy it for yourself and form your own opinion. Each person would probably get a different message.
3. The animation! Wow the animation is spectacular. When I first watched the movie I was awed by the attention to detail, the shadows, and the lighting. It is mesmerizing. It must have taken countless hours of work and it most definitely payed off.
This is my #2 pixar movie after Coco and I hope everyone who is a pixar fan gets around to watching it.
Tenet (2020)
Extreme confusion in well directed Nolan thriller.
First of all, this is a confusing movie. The volume of the music and sounds are amplified times 5 as a "creative choice" by Chris Nolan. It is horrible and so confusing. The worst thing though is the confusing plot. There is no explanation to anything, the plot is so complicated even einstein would have a bad time. If you want to watch this movie, watch it to see how Nolan uses direction and cinematography to create a thrilling environment, and watch it to hear the mesmerising score. I rate this movie a 5/10 because maybe if I watch it 5 more times i'll begin to understand the plot.
Ralph Breaks the Internet (2018)
Horrid capitalization of an already meh franchise.
Even people that had fun with this movie can agree. It is full of ads and monetization. The story is horrible, the songs are meh and I am sad that it is a 7/10 on this website that I usually trust.
Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore (1974)
One of my favorite Martin Scorsese movies.
I don't understand why more people haven't seen this. This a gritty and dark at times portrayal of being a woman in 60's and 70's. There are some funny but mostly heartbreaking moments in this harsh and realistic movie. I would heavily recommend to most people if you like Scorsese and want to see his 1 movie with a female protagonist. Speaking of Scorsese this movie is outstanding for his directorial style is not very evident. It doesn't feel like a Scorsese movie. But that's not a bad thing. The social commentary is very deep and interesting. Watch this movie! Give it a chance because it is an amazing trip.
The Royal Tenenbaums (2001)
A strange potrail of a dysfunctional family that is extremely effective.
I love Wes Anderson and most of his films, my favorite one being Moonrise Kingdom. This is, as with most of his movies, strange but heartfelt and funny. This movie does a very good job portraying it's messages about love and death. The acting is amazing and the directing, as usual is quirky and amazing. If you haven't yet seen any Wes Anderson movie, I would definitely start with this before you get into The Grand Budapest and Moonrise Kingdom.
Luca (2021)
Outstanding Animation & Voice Acting -but- Generic Story and Bad Pacing
Out of Pixar were all used to expect masterpieces that are heartfelt and emotional. This movie is a good reminder tyhat not everything that comes out of a good studio must be perfect. This is a funny and hopefully acurate portrail of small italian towns, and mermaids/mermen. I loved the voice acting and the animation was impeccible. It's a crowd pleasing summer movie that I reccomend if you want to have an enjoyable time. There is bad pacing and a generic story; therefore I would give it a 6/10 just below Onwards.
In the Heights (2021)
A fun movie!! A bit to long
Great music and visuals, but drags at the end. I loved the acting and the singing and of course Miranda's composition. The perfect summer movie to start the season. Watch this if your in the mood for a summer blockbuster.
Goodfellas (1990)
One of my all time faves!!
A perfect mafia/crime movie. Amazing acting and directing from martin Scorsese. If you haven't seen this classic, what are you doing with your life?
Schitt$ Creek (2015)
CANNOT OVER HYPE THIS.
I love this show with all my heart. This is an amazing positive and laugh out loud show. I've seen it like 6 times and it hasn't gotten old.
Det sjunde inseglet (1957)
Ingmar Bergman's masterpiece.
A strangely life affirming movie about death. A very well acted and amazingly directed film. The play on shadows and faces is definitely the most unique i've ever seen. There is heavy symbolism and some very uncomfortable scenes, but I enjoyed it alot nevertheless, wait till your old enough, and then WATCH IT.
Druk (2020)
Enjoyable and relatively deep film.
Although flawed at times, the overall message is very important. This story, although not realistic at times is an important one to see. The acting is perfect, and the filmmaking is great. I recommend it if you are someone who can oversee small nitpicks.
Sound of Metal (2019)
Awesome film with a great message
This film teaches you to appreciate things you don't usually apreciate. The sound editing is immaculate and the story that this film tells is unforgettable. The acting is amazing and I will continue thinking about this movie, and I never think I will stop remembering it my future.
Minari (2020)
Life affirming and beautiful
A great movie that has amazing acting, an on point story, and amazing filmmaking. I smiled throughout most of the movie for the arguments and interfamily relationships remind me of my own. There are some issues, but I definitely recommend it.
Limbo (2020)
Slowly paced masterpiece
I really enjoyed this film. The cinematography is outstanding and beutiful. Some shots are so beautiful it's worth a second watch just to appreciate them. Please watch this movie!
WandaVision (2021)
Great mystery. Ending dissapointing.
Great mystery in the beginning and the production design and old themes are amazing. By the end though, Its just any other marvel battle. Still heavily recommend though.
The Father (2020)
A Perfect Movie!
My favorite movie of the year. Anthony Hopkins does one of the best performance i've ever seen. The cinematography and directing is perfect. By the ending scene I wasn't able to cry because I was so awed by Hopkin's performance.
Cruella (2021)
Cruella - Amazing!!!
I expected it to be bad but I was happily suprised. It was dark, funny, and thrilling. Aside from a few nitpicks, I heavily enjoyed this movie.
