When Calls the Heart: When Stars Align (2024)
Season 11, Episode 1
10/10
Stars, Planets, and the Space between Words
8 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I am recovering from surgery, so there is little I can physically do. But I looked forward to this premiere episode of this season, and it did not disappoint. The unveiling of Elizabeth's new hairstyle played out so well, they made me feel like I was in the room with them. It was delightful to watch the subtle looks between Elizabeth and Nathan, causing me to remind myself what a great actor Erin Krakow is, as well as Kevin McGarry. When Calls the Heart has returned to a heart-warming, sweet, wonderful story, similar once again, to Janette Oke's that I read so long ago. I am thrilled to find hope restored in Hope Valley, and an opportunity for me to not dwell on my physical recovery.

When Calls the Heart: Long Time Running (2023)

Much More Hope in Hope Valley
9 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The actors seemed to give us their best performances during this episode. The story line made sense, with Elizabeth and Lucas facing the flaws in their relationship, thanks to the pressure and time constraints on them as Lucas took a grand step towards a campaign to unseat the governor, and his wicked schemes. Lucas has taken a noble role, putting the good of the town above his personal interests. Rosemary and Lee tried to balance breaking news, baby care, and a roof leak crisis, all with great humor. Rosemary's conversation with Elizabeth was so touching; Nathan's so meaningful with Elizabeth. Well done, writers, actors, and everyone else. Hickam's scenes with Mei were also sweet, yet honest.

Another Engaging Installment of The Wedding Veil
9 January 2023
One of the reasons I enjoyed the original parts of The Wedding Veil involved the art and the history that were showcased with the story. I wasn't sure what this next installment would offer me as part of the audience, but I found it even more delightful. It let us glimpse into the new marriage of Avery and Peter, and the negotiations and frustrations that come with marriage and the adjustment to another person in most aspects of life. Because of the previews, I didn't realize how much this story would focus on the two of them and their struggles together. It turned out to be a lovely surprise. The story was great, the acting, superb, and the overall production, simply wonderful.

Feeling Butterflies (2022 TV Movie)

Does Love Take Flight Like a Butterfly?
13 March 2022
What a charming story I found in this movie. All the actors did a fine job, including the girl that plays Garrett's daughter, as well as Kevin and Kayla. The main couple needed to act very differently than they live in real life, and they convinced me throughout the movie that they could do so very well. I enjoyed everything about this story, including learning more about the symbolism of the butterfly, as well as how gorgeous butterflies appear when released en masse. Thank you to all involved, for this was a charming couple of hours of engaging entertainment.

The Wedding Veil (2022 TV Movie)

A Great Story
9 January 2022
I felt like The Wedding Veil steered appreciatively away from the usual Hallmark formulaic story line, making this a wonderful story to watch. Actresses who are such masters of their craft played their roles to perfection. The male lead, Kevin M, used such a well-done Boston accent that I almost forgot it was him. Lacey Chabert, playing the first friend to take on the veil and its charms made perfect sense. I enjoyed this movie so much that it made me want to visit the museum that is central to this subtle love story. Thank you to all who brought The Wedding Veil through production. Other than Hallmark's cheesy "Lovuery (misspelling of a word that doesn't exist, sorry) advertisements, my evening was perfection.
