Lessons in Chemistry (2023)
Well written story holds you and through the ups and downs of life in the 50s
At first the title didn't grab me right off but after watching a couple episodes it grabbed this household and loved everything about it. It showed womens constant belittling and showed the racial injustices to the black community. The characters are wonderfully real and endearing and you become attached to their wins and losses. I would like to see another season but not sure where it would go or if it should happen and the story has been told and maybe that's good enough as additional seasons sometimes end up jumping the shark and does no good for the story or characters. Again it was excellant.
God's Country (2022)
good premise but bad execution
The plot was interesting and could see potential but OMG it was so slow and lethargic. Thandiwe is an outstanding actor and love everything she does but this one put me to sleep. Kept hoping and hoping for something besides showing me why small town white America are places to avoid. If you're not related to everyone or grew up here just get gas and a bite to eat and move on. Just like this movie. So many possible items to work from but they are all grey and non eventful even the burning of the house. She's up burying a deer and see's it all happen but what does she do, kills 2 of the numbskulls and sits her ass down on the front step as I'm yelling DO NOT END THIS MOVIE LIKE THING AAAAAAGGGGGHHHH.
Holes in the Sky: The Sean Miller Story (2021)
Can you say Blair Witch
Well I start watching assuming it was a reality documentary show but I have seen some hokey stuff before but this is way beyond that. The 'filming' is jumpy the dialog is non descript and beyond belief. Slightly entertaining but it kept getter more disjointed and lacking substance. A good watch for a cloudy Sunday afternoon while trying to solve the day's Wordle ! I wasn't trying to get much out of the show except maybe learn information about what I thought was a true story and that didn't happen so am left with watching some old Classic show on Pluto where I can be entertained but know it's all make believe.
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (2017)
What a treat
Got hooked on the first season and went along for the ride! An absolute pleasure and blast to watch and no spoilers but the ending wraps up very nicely and leaves you knowing what you need to know. Fast paced humor and narrative is the basis and appealing thing that held us through the whole series. And, mixing actual historical people along with what are assumed are true trials and tribulations of women trying to enter any male dominated fiels is just icing on the cake of Midges struggles and victories. The actors were all top rate and easy to admire and feel for. I wish more shows of this caliber could be come out but enjoy the ones that finally come our way. Way to go Mrs. Maisel!
Mother! (2017)
Watch and then google 'meaning of movie Mother'
The movie grabbed our interest from the beginning and was constantly having us ask is someone dead, is this a dream, is it a continual recurring life event. What the what was said a few times at least but after watching the whole thing we had to do a google and ask 'what is the meaning of the move Mother' . Well that definitely filled in the gaps and took us down a path we didn't expect BUT explained a lot. All in all every person is a biblical analogy and makes you wonder is the world we live in as chaotic and disfunctional as what we just watched?? Very interesting and glad we didn't get the meaning before watching.
Hunt for the Wilderpeople (2016)
Fun and funny quirky surprise
Great quirky movie full of chuckles and heart warming at the same time. Totally surprised and enjoyable. Good for all ages. Pleasant surprise and recommended.
Oldboy (2013)
Intense
I don't understood some of the bad reviews. It was riveting and intriguing. Caught me from the start and wanted to see where it went. Enjoyed the characters and great action. Super list of actors.
Destination Fear (2019)
Omg stop screaming
Ok I'd be scared too BUT investigate and stop running away from every damned thing that scares you.
I'm Thinking of Ending Things (2020)
Wasted my life..
I don't see how this could have a score of over 6 as after watching that terrible show I look at what others have rated it and there is no way IMDB has their algorithms correct. To me it should be more around 2.0 but I digress. What a POS . I kept thinking this will pull a rabbit out of the hat with a twisted end like was done for 6th Sense but OMG nothing but confusing. What was that dancing at the end geez really!? What an insult to the actors and hoping I can get this out of my mind FOREVER.
The Silencing (2020)
Captures interest right away.
Captured my interest from the start. Story had a few hiccups but for the most part it was good.
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina: Chapter Thirty-Six: At the Mountains of Madness (2020)
WTH was that? That's the best they could do?? Sad and lazy.
Bogus, lazy, water of all the time spent. It used to be entertaining but took a very weird detour in the last season.
The Holzer Files (2019)
Gotta pay extra now so forget it
Used to watch but now Discovey plus puts one teaser show on some cable providers with the intent to draw folks into spending a monthly fee for their shows on top of whatever provider you may have.
Destination Fear (2019)
Omg stop screaming
Ok I'd be scared too BUT investigate and stop running away from every damned thing that scares you.
Haunted State (2019)
Good show too much voice box though
Give it another season for some refinement has merit but sometimes irritating
Star Trek: Picard (2020)
I was super Trekked
Power watched and totally loved it. Great CG and trekkies will love it I think
I See You (2019)
Gr8 twists
Gr8 plot and unexpected turns super show to get wrapped up in
El hoyo (2019)
Good but that ending...really?
Gets your attention, great premise but thanks for the goofy ending. I wanted a wrap up not a sign of how humanity really does suck. And what's with the girl? If she was a message it was missed big time.
Tales from the Loop (2020)
first episode grabbed me
If the remaining episodes are as good as that first one I'm looking forward to watching more. I could remind you of a more complex 'Eureka' with a little more depth and thought provoking stories. I hope this continues.
3022 (2019)
no action and depressing not bad SCI FI but the cig smoking was really weird
This movie is a somewhat realistic view of what humans could do and resort to in an apocalyptic sort of way. The CGA was very good BUT smoking in space OMG really?! The ending was a 'OMG' moment but guessing the cavalry wasn't coming so you guess what happens. I just don't want to take my head down this path too far as it's truly a depressing and scary thing to delve into. End of humanity is kind of where this ends up I guess. Definitely it's a one timer but worth the time.
In the Tall Grass (2019)
A lot of grass and a little confused
This is a grab you movie it's just a little too confusing with the time jumps or whatever they would be called. Watched to the end but felt somewhat satisfied and still a little confused. It was worth the time but not a great score.
Ghost Nation (2019)
Mehh
Loved ghost hunters but this is pretty boring and the way the Travel Channel broadcasts supposedly 'New episodes which are simply rebroadcasts of previous shows. I'm pretty much finished.
Paranormal Caught on Camera (2019)
Nothing is new. Just repeating same stories
After watching the first couple episodes it became apparent that every story previously reported had been on a previous show. It appears they may put a new story in the middle of all the previous stories. Pretty much a waste of time because there is no reason to binge watch unless you want to see the same things over and over
Another Life (2019)
Great sci-fi but the spoiled brats of a crew will make you cringe
It started off really well but then anytime in a crisis moment the totally immature spoiled brat crew show this mission was bound to fail. It got a little bit old to see a complete opposite situation of this versus the Martian. Nobody focuses on a problem but just lose their minds and start pouting and yelling at each other. I'm into the third episode and I don't know how much more I can take hoping for some resolve. Started as an 8 * I'm down to five and may go lower depending on what happens.
Yesterday (2019)
Ok movie if he woke up but..........
Maybe I'm taking this movie too seriously but
1 the premise was OK
2 depressed me even thinking The Beatles never existed.
3 not a fan of alternative universes
4 just assumed his silly ass would wake up and things would be back to normal.
5 just weird
Mile 22 (2018)
Don't waste your time
Seriously? what a waste of film. Started out OK but quickly went down hill. Don't waste your time.
