Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception (2011 Video Game)
10/10
Instant CLASSIC. What else can I say?
8 November 2011
I had high expectations for Uncharted 3. They were exceeded and smashed. Naughty Dog did what many, many people thought impossible and made a sequel that was even better than its predecessor.

The game feels so much more whole as an experience, it feels complete. It answers questions, and asks a few new ones as well. From start to finish, it's a tight, enriching and wholly engrossing experience; not just a game.

I won't reveal any spoilers. But I'll just say that a few new features go a long way in enhancing the Uncharted experience. Different takes on the way the story is told and set up is also another plus.

As a game, it may seem like more of a playable movie. BUT, it's so much more - it remains a GAME. It pulls you in until you can't put the controller down.

Once you've finished, there's a hint of sadness - you'll find yourself wishing you'd never finished it, just so you could discover and experience it all again.

Easily Game of the Year. I can't fault this.

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (2004 Video Game)
10/10
Three years on and it's still selling off the shelves...
18 July 2007
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, or just GTA: SA for short, is the sixth installment of the Grand Theft Auto video game franchise. The game was released in October of 2004, two years after Vice City and three years after GTA III's release.

The game itself has celebrated phenomenal success. It is the single best-selling game in the world, having sold over fifteen million copies as of May 2007. It is also one of the world's fastest-selling; over a million copies were sold on day one of its release in the USA alone.

The game world of San Andreas is very different to the urban environments of GTA III's Liberty City and GTA: VC's, well, Vice City. Vice City, based on Miami, the second best-selling game in the world, (with fourteen million copies as of May 2007), is a good 90% built-up area. San Andreas is different because it is a fictitious state of the USA; it has three major cities, Los Santos, San Fierro and Las Venturas each based on Los Angeles, San Francisco and Las Vegas, respectively. All major cities are connected by freeways, with towns, forests, deserts, a mountain and heaps more scenery between them.

The general plot is set in 1992. Its outline is as follows: a young Afro-American man, Carl 'CJ' Johnson, must return to San Andreas after living in Liberty City for five years following the drive-by murder of his mother. Carl Johnson travels all over San Andreas to set things right for his family and his 'hood.

Overall, this probably the best video game ever made, if not one of, because it manages to expand on everything previously achieved and then it can still further innovate.

A must-buy and must-play.

What they nailed this time: Great size, more vehicles and a great voice cast; including Samuel L. Jackson and Peter Fonda, lots of new features, a massive improvement over VC. Great, rich storyline.

What they need to fix: Draw distance and frame rate.

Smashing!
9 December 2006
Warning: Spoilers
A brilliant documentary that details all of George Herbert Walker Bush's (father of former President Bush), involvement and connections to the Kennedy assassination through the CIA, Bay Of Pigs and J. Edgar Hoover. It also details the involvement of E. Howard Hunt, who trained some anti-Castro Cubans for the Bay Of Pigs invasion. Another topic is the involvement of Richard Nixon in the assassination. This documentary is full of surprises and twists and turns and continues to amaze people about how vast the conspiracy was to assassinate John F. Kennedy. This documentary also details the faked autopsy photos and the case of Kennedy's body. A must watch.
