The Blue Rose (2013)
Enjoyed watching, best episodes not the main plot ones
The most enjoyable episodes were the ones where the focus was not on the girl who had died, but where they were trying to help someone solve their problem. Reminded me of my favorite episodes of Burn Notice, without the comic edge. I liked the characters, but they didn't have a ton of depth. Very serious all the time. Overall plot felt too predictable.
A Mouse, a Mystery and Me (1987)
A girl and her ghost writing mouse help a young boy find out what happened to a kidnapped Santa Clause.
A girl, a mystery writing mouse named Alex, and a hip friend help a young boy who believes that Santa has been kidnapped. The three of them follow a set of clues that lead to the missing Santa and an embezzlement costing the department store thousands. It is only with the help of this animated talking mystery writing mouse that Christmas can be made right once more. It is a cute make for TV movie, but very old school. The story line is simple without many complications. Although the hair and outfits are beyond 80's stereotypical, it is still worth watching at least once and has been added to our families' seasonal movies collection. The best part is the voice of the mouse Alex done by Donald O'Connor.
