National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation (1989)
Chase-ing Glory
The funniest Christmas movie of all time - and definitely the best in the Vacation series. Chase is at his best here, with the maniacal glee of a Light-crazed decorator and Xmas enthusiast all balled into one hilarious performance. Also a great place to see cousin Eddy, who it is now revealed is not half as crazy as Randy Quaid. No Christmas is complete with a viewing of this classic. Would love to see a sequel to this one...
Lemon (2017)
dry humor 100%
This is a great dramedy, in the sense that it actually is very funny and has some emotional moments too. I love the main actor (his work in Fleabag is great, but he's fully on display here). The concept of the film is a little dark, but really gets to the emotional core of being rejected. Love the supporting cast as well - def a recommend for this little-seen gem.
Reap (2020)
quirky
This movie takes the 'kids trapped at a party' sub-genre and puts a pretty cool spin on it. Some uneven moments, but overall a good watch for anybody who likes indie stuff, especially indie thrillers. The main girl is actually really creepy and the rest of the cast is decent, given the material.
Scrooged (1988)
best holiday movie of all time
With the possible exception of Christmas Vacation, this is the best holiday comedy movie ever. I think it eclipses Vacation because the final message is truly heart warming. Murray is at his absolute best in this film, with the classic Murrayian quips and facial expressions, and of course prat falls - but his warmth comes through in spades too. The ensemble cast is pitch perfect as well, down to the little "God Bless Us Everyone" kid - *sniffs backs tears* - Seriously a delight to watch this film at any time, but make sure its on your holiday list forever.
