Chronicle (2012)
entertaining...but jeez its no 7.0+
i watch cast away once a year. its rated 7.5 on IMDb. this movie is 7.4 currently. makes IMDb rating system just seem pointless and ruins hopes at achieving true reference values. everyone just wants to think they stand behind the next best thing and it just makes the general public stance on their own education more horrid. please...this is no cast away people. i doubt 90% of any of these voters will even see this movie again, ever. ugh. The movie is superficial from beginning to end. Shallow overplayed story. Entertaining, however, only in moments. People highly rating this movie are easily amused and haven't remotely the life experience to rate a flies journey across the screen. Just a disgrace to the community. Makes me dislike the movie even more, just because i feel like i'm associating myself with idiots. Thanks IMDb.
Repeaters (2010)
high entertainment value
Any movie set in the country where trees outnumber the cast/crew and plausible town population is well on its way to drawing me in. The scene sets the mood for any film and it was chosen wisely for this Canadian country thriller. The filmmakers gave a taste of the natural surroundings of the location to give some of its own say in the plot which is a big win. It had a bit of feel from Rambo/First Blood where you get the environment playing a part in the characters with strong sounds from the river and a dirt bike. The dialog came across as unforced and played out creatively into a spire of events that held high entertainment value. Mid level psychological value but more entertaining than trying to draw on conceptual values over its own path and plot. This film kept me watching without a yawn and did a quality job of taking the expected state of affairs to the next level. While admittedly most movies drawn up these days use a bit of the same sleazy concepts, this one I believe nestles down into its own unique little fortified holding and fires upon the viewer with a quality helping of raw.

Holds firm to a true comic book escapade
This is a Stallone classic. I really felt this movie held firm to a comic book foundation. It envisions and instills what one might get from reading an adventure comic book for the first time. Follows through to the last page and leaves you with a complete taste...yet wanting another edition of this classic tale of the future. Stallone is a great 'comic book' character and perfect for this part. I get the feeling the public eye always holds out for something Stallone cannot offer...and so this film never surmounted with ratings, but this film was never meant to offer anything like that. A true hidden treasure that i would put up against any comic book derived movie. A great escape. And a great depart from modern emotional tugalongs more common at the theater.
