If you are a fan of the Sherman Brothers, this movie is a great treat for the ears. The songs are terrific. Parts of the plot (and some of the acting) become irritating at times, but overall this is a good movie. The debate about whether Dakota should be one state or two was real, though not all of the political history in this movie is accurate.

This is a movie about family, music, and forgiveness told from the perspective of 12 year old Miguel Rivera, an aspiring musical whose family hates music. The story is beautiful, the animation stunning, and the music both lively and sad. The voice acting is outstanding. I highly recommend this movie.

I hated this movie. Hated every insipid, ridiculous minute of it I had the misfortune of wasting on it. Hated it with every fiber of my being. I love musicals. This was complete garbage. Awful music, awful singing, ridiculous, absurd dialogue and a story so disingenuous it gave me nausea. Avoid this steaming pile of excrement at all costs!
