WWE Royal Rumble 2024 (2024)
Road to WrestleMania starts with a Bang
Decent PLE to start the year off right. Predictable finishes but Predictable doesn't always mean bad. Cody attempts to go back to back with Rumble wins but standing in his way are 29 other superstars including Drew McIntyre and the returning CM Punk, who's wrestling in his first WWE PLE in 10 years. Also, the Women shine bright in arguably the greatest women's rumble of all time, Plus, Roman Reigns' historic Championship run faces its biggest challenge yet as he defends in a Fatal 4-Way and Kevin Owens looks to claw the United States Championship away from the cocky Logan Paul. It's a decent start to the year.
The Incredibles (2004)
Disney/Pixar decided to do a superhero movie and nailed it
The Incredibles is a great superhero movie for the whole family. Very cleaver plot that makes a lot sense. Every character got their time to shine. My only critique is that the movie could have benefited from an extra 15-20 minutes. By far The Incredibles is the best animated superhero film since Batman:Mask of the Phantasm 11 years earlier.
Deep Water (2022)
Eh, definitely not the best thriller I've ever seen
Deep Water is an average thriller at best. Without the murder aspect of the story this movie would be a total bomb. Not all is bad though as Ana de Armas shines as a very flirtatious wife who just wants her husband to "care". Armas steals every scene she's in and out acts Affleck at every corner. Definitely a movie to skip but a movie to say "this is the movie when Hollywood saw Ana de Armas as a serious actress.
No Time to Die (2021)
Daniel Craig is my definitive James Bond
Daniel Craig is the most realistic James Bond we've ever had. From Casino Royale to No Time to Die, I have enjoyed every second of the journey he has taken me on. Some movies were better than others but all were enjoyable. No Time to Die sees Bond come out of retirement to stop a new advisory. This shows a seasoned Bond with nothing left to lose. A surprising ending to an otherwise good movie. This franchise gives me Dark Knight Trilogy vibes.
Spectre (2015)
Should have seen this coming
If you saw Skyfall you should have seen this coming. In Skyfall we were introduced to Q, Moneypenny, and the male version of M. The ending of Skyfall was straight out of the beginning of every classic Bond movie. In Spectre, we are in full "Classic Bond mode". This time we are introduced to yet another classic Bond character in Blofeld. The arch nemesis to James Bond. This movie feels like a modern take on a classic Sean Connery movie from the '60's. Filled with big strong powerful henchmen, gadgets, cars, and women. What started out as a different take of James Bond with the gritty Casino Royale has now turned into every other Bond movie from the 60's. Don't get me wrong, it's by no means a bad movie but just not the direction I was hoping to see this character go in.
The Batman (2022)
Finally we get a true version of Batman
I've been a fan of Batman my entire life. I have/had all the toys, read the comics, watch the cartoons, all the movies, and even have a Batman tattoo on my chest. Although I enjoyed the Burton version and the Nolan version and even the Affleck version, they all have 1 thing in common. They all lack that moniker of "World's Greatest Detective". But not Pattinson. As a true fan I can honestly say Robert Pattinson is the best version of Batman that I've ever seen on film. Although still not quite as good as The Dark Knight, it is easily #2 on my Batman movie list.
Skyfall (2012)
This should have been the follow-up to Casino Royale
Daniel Craig is back as Bond and this time he must help M stop a former spy turned villain looking to destroy MI6 and M all at once. For the 1st time in the Craig series do we see a villain actually worth talking about. Javier Bardem shines as the big baddie. Definitely in the conversation of top villains in the entire franchise. On the 50th anniversary of the films we are introduced to a lot of familiar faces from the franchise's past in this film. If you are a true Bond fan the last 5 minutes should excite you for what's to come down the line.
Quantum of Solace (2008)
A slightly above average yet forgettable Bond film
Quantum of Solace is the anticipated follow-up to 2006 Casino Royale. Unfortunately it doesn't live up to the hype. Although we do see more action this time around. The story however lacks any huge substance. It's very clear from the beginning that the villain is no true match for Bond nor is his "right hand man". If you're going to sit back and watch all the Daniel Craig Bond movies, it wouldn't hurt to skip this one.
Casino Royale (2006)
A new Bond for a new Generation
This isn't the James Bond your father grew up on. Daniel Craig delivers a fresh yet grounded and gritty take on everyone's favorite spy. Casino Royale is an origin story of sorts. Tells how Bond got his "Double 0" status. Best Bond movie since Goldeneye.
Ghostbusters: Afterlife (2021)
Best Ghostbusters since the original
Feels like a 90's kids movie on the level of a Jumanji for example mixed with the lore of the Ghostbusters. Great cast. Nice to see the originals again. Bill Murray is still as funny as he was in 1984.
8-Bit Christmas (2021)
It's ok at best. Not going to be on my annual Christmas movie list.
Not a great Christmas movie. Very little resembled the 80's outside of the Nintendo itself. Furthermore, the last 30 minutes or so of the movie just took a different turn which they never lead onto the entire hour prior.
