Ojing-eo geim (2021)
Good for a weekend binge
The show's writers need some alone time with the script to polish the rough edges. As an American, I don't know the principal actors or "VIP's" although I agree that the 5 main actors weren't given three best material in the first place.
Misogyny runs rampant in the writers room with an unfair amount of women actors being put into some 1950's melodramatic saccharine.
But it's fun. Lots of blood. Weirdness. Almost John Waters-esque.
La Brea (2021)
Wow, really?
One of the "so bad NBC cuts and sells it off to Peacock.
I left when Dad starts telling daughter about his precognitive headaches that AH HA make sense now, then cut away to the v local Air Force base where they immediately determine it's got to do with the "lights in the desert.
I'm going to go read a book.
I'm waiting fo.
Mare of Easttown: Illusions (2021)
Just as good as the reviews say
I very rarely write reviews. The exceptions are usually for the either very bad or as in this case, television of an exceptional nature.
Kate Winslet is simply brilliant. This isn't a case of actresses being lauded for a "unattractive" character. Her depth of performance is riveting. Multi layered. You dislike her lack of moral compass but then cry for the pain that drives her.
Evan Peter's is also giving a fabulously multifaceted approach to what could've been a cookie cutter role in support of a great female character.
Jean Smart is funny, as we expect of this long standing excellent supporting actor. But she lets you see her feeling of failure and seeking reception for her daughter's failures.
Supported by an exceptional script, directors, editing and set decoration.
And their dialect coach deserves an Emmy!
