The Master (2012)
Not everyone's cup of tea
This was a hard movie to like at first but can now safely call it one of my favorite films. I found myself thinking about it days after watching. From the performances, direction, cinematography, production design, this movie is the real deal. Also, is there a scene better than the processing scene from the last 25 years?
Phantom Thread (2017)
Elegance on screen
This movie is just a joy to watch! It toys with the highs and lows of a relationship that I feel anyone can relate to. I laughed on occasion and was devastated at other times. I went through all the feelings in this! And at the end of the day, this is what I look for in a movie.
The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford (2007)
Wow!
That is all! See this movie. It won't be for everyone but those who "get it" will find it life changing.
The Wrong Todd (2018)
Pleasant Surprise
I'm shocked this film only has a 5.1. It seems to me the only thing wrong with it is its low budget which IMO you can't hold against the film, as it was clearly a labor of love.
What I watched was a clever, charming little film that entertained me from beginning to end and I cannot wait to see what the director does next.
Alice Fades Away (2021)
Contemplative journey thriller
Alice Fades Away is a interesting movie to watch while we, like the main character, are semi trapped by circumstances beyond our control. I very much enjoyed the pull between the past and how that had led us to the present along with the fear for the future. Alice is an interesting character because she is not what you would expect from a 50s housewife and it becomes apparent that she knows this as well, never quite fitting into her husbands world. This movie does a good job, in my opinion, presenting us with the realistic options that she would have had and leaves us with the clear sense that none of them are good.
