YouTumor (2021)
Excellent Job!! Mind blowing casting!! Entertaining stuff!!
One of the finest entertaining movie coming out of totally disoriented and resource constricted industry. I wouldn't believe what they had achieved until i finally decided to sweep my superficial pride of being an ardent international movie enthusiast under the rug. Got my subscription for chorki after asked incessantly about another project which was running on the same platform, so "you tumor" came as a bonus for me.
So i grabbed my laptop and indulged myself to be disappointed again with poor screenplay, acting and development of the stories. But one thing for sure, my expectations were neutral as it was late night, I thought I wouldn't be able to reach finish line. To be very honest, haven't been following any works of the main actors nothing at all, except i heard pritom singing one time. So, i had no preconceptions and didn't know what to expect. Although i am aware of contemporary work of other directors of Bangladesh.
Enough with the pretext, i will go right into the movie.
I was hooked from the start, acting struck me first. Then, an ordinary/ typical gen z story coated in the society that i grew up managed to hold my attention. May be because, randomised placement of the characters from any young mans life in Bangladesh made it appealing and sturdy. Fun aspect was, getting aid/ providing aid (complimentary) from/ to infamous Youtube/ Facebook celebrity who were prevalent in the digital ecosystem of the country.
Music arrangements were cool, so was Jackson vai. Atleast, he gave some pure laughs and enticed me to crack some late night ciggies.
I think, director envisioned "only entertainment" as a outcome and he delivered that eloquently. Atleast some cares about entertainment rather than being obsessed with participating in awards function only.
I would say, this movie deserves proper attention. But sharing my utmost gratification to the team and the protagonists.
Thanks.
Peace out!
Judas and the Black Messiah (2021)
Mind blowing! Powerful! Gut wrenching!!
One of the best movie in recent times, based on the dark chapter of FBI and pointed out many controversial side of Black Panther too. I wouldn't go into the specificities, you should be the judge of what you see.
Captivating acting from both of the lead actors Lakeith and Daniel has woven the film eloquently and the depth of the story will give a holistic history lesson.
One of the best movie premised on black history till to this date. It deserves accolades, popularity no matter how would you view the original story.
No Bed of Roses (2017)
Interesting story line with amazing cinematography! Not necessarily a biopic!
I think for people who have been internalising this story as a cut out from the life of one of the greatest author that Bangladesh has ever seen, were heavily misguided by their own convictions. It can work as influence for Farooki to set out the story, not necessarily he tried only to depict that. The way i see it, it has shown multi-variant aspects of social bond.
Delicately touched on the issue of high price that you have to pay when think out of the ordinary. The imminent effect which can bring diabolical consequences if you take radical decision which is a direct contradiction to existing social silos.
This really gives hope because no one was bold enough to dig up these kind of issues on broader audiences of developing world.
Having said, i also felt the movie was a bit sluggish at some point. But I don't want to sound like a snob because i know how many impactful work farooki has done already. May be it was catering his vision about this film specifically.
Just watched it, as soon as it came out on Netflix. Had to go to bed late, was late for the office but it was totally worth it. Thanks!!!
Falling (2020)
Good! But expected something much better!
Someone as talented as viggo, one could easily expect masterpiece from him, be it in his directorial debut. That being said, not trying to
take anything away from Lance henriksen who acted brilliantly in this movie alongside with Viggo. Seemingly a bit sluggish storyline, continuously hammering on "negative side of human characteristics" made it a bit mundane. Other than enjoyed greatly acting and intricate camera work.
Palmer (2021)
Looks like simple things are coming back! Brilliant starts of the year! Brilliant story telling! Magnificent acting!
I must say this was one of the best performance from Justin timberlake. The subtlety of the story will guide you smoothly throughout the movies, the punchlines were well crafted. Once you are hooked to the story, you will feel the depth of each turnaround wholeheartedly. It's about friendship, second chance, self reflection. Amidst of turbulent social landscapes of across the globe, this film talks about courage and terraforming someone's inner most core. If you are up for a subtle philosophical treat accompanied by brilliant acting, i urge you to delve into this movie. Thanks!
