The Father (I) (2020)
9/10
Brilliant acting in a film about compassion and sorrow
22 August 2021
Lets start this review with Anthony Hopkins and Olivia Colman. They make this film to a masterpiece, brilliantly subtile in their acting and in the twists and turns of this drama. But all the actors in the film is making a great performance and becomes a perfect conducted reflection of the sanity and craziness that comes with the sickness of dementia.

The film is based on a stage play and you feel it in the dialouge that is both poetic and emotional without being overacted or to obvious.

The film has a nightmarish feel to it without losing the warmth and depth of the human relations.

The sadness of getting old or see someone you love get old is in a tender way portrayed by Hopkins and Colman all the way to the very moving ending.

Hopkins acting in this film should be a must to watch for every young actor or actress that want to know how to be convincing and true on screen.

Wolfwalkers (2020)

A wonderful fairy tale for both children and adults
15 August 2021
A animated adventure that takes the audience on a journey through both fantastic fantasy, and at the same time a recognisable coming-to-age drama about the cruelty of not being heard and the importance of being true to your own feelings and choices.

A film that is taking some suprising turns and twists and has a dramatic core much more true to old folklore stories told around the campfire, than the modern age polished childrenstories we are used to watch now a days.

A gem for every familymember to watch whatever age or gender.

Knocking (2021)
10/10
An impressive debut and a breathtaking performance from the lead actress!
8 February 2021
This film is a must see! A solid thriller drama with breathtaking acting from Cecilia Milocco. The story is rather simple in one sense. It follows Molly, a women coming home from a psychriatic clinic after dealing with the loss of her girlfriend. Back home she hears noises, knockings, in the walls and ceiling. It sounds like a woman in pain. It drives Molly to investigate where the sounds comes from but no one believes her conviction that a women in the building is getting hurt. This is the setting for this drama taking place in the suburbs somewhere in Sweden. But the big sucess of this film is not a smart plot or a who-done-it-mystery for the viewer to solve. Its the brilliantly performed emotional journey of Molly and the bold storytelling of relying in the moods and senses of the lead role that makes this a magnificent debut film from Frida Kempff. The visionary camerawork is highly emotionally driven and the script makes plenty of room for both moods and tensions far beyond the written dialogue. The movies core is the suggestive and subjective experience of loneliness and the effects of not being heard. In that sense, this movie suceed of being both a deeply moving drama and a thriller full of suspense. Cecilia Miloccos moving potrayal of Molly, a women struggling with sorrow and depression is masterly performed and makes this film a masterpiece.
