The Sect (1991)
6/10
Scary, very scary...
6 February 2006
Well this is not and usual terror film like other Hollywood movies. M. Soavi, director of another excellent movies like Dellamorte Dellamore or La Chiesa, takes you to a strange world where the evil surrounds Miriam, a lonely girl who is the victim of a sect, she is the person who must brings the devil to the earth. Visually, the film is incredible, genial camera angles, excellent colours and sounds management that makes you enter the story. There is also a reference to La Chiesa, the hole at Miriam's house, is the door to the evil, like the hole at the church of La Chiesa. Strongly recommended in order to see a different terror from Hollywood

Good

Well this is a film funny to see. The script is not bad, and the film starts creating you expectations and suspects thanks to the performance of the actors. By the final minutes you can see a typical final with a little surprise at the last scene, but the film will have done that you have a good time. Between the actors, we can see Jack Taylor, and usual actor at the Spanish "fantaterror". And another classic at the sixties, the king of the sexual comedies in Spain, Alfredo Landa, performing a short role, but with a lot of importance to the history. The music was good and for fans of dance-progressive music, at the film appears a good remix of the classic of the seventies I'm not in love. Not the best at the thriller in Spain but good.

Absolutely boring

This is an example of cult movie, that is not. By the time the film was in cinemas it was horrible results, and it is logical. The film is apparently a comedy with a drama include, but the film was so boring... The history was simple, a group of rich french meets in a big house for a hunting, ant it happens a lot of confusions and unexpected romances. The film is not more much, it is so slow and boring... that the viewer wants that film just finish. You can find similitudes with the style of Lubitsch, but Lubitch's titles are more interesting and dynamic than this one. Not recommendable for common viewer, only for people interested in story of cinema
