You Are What You Eat: A Twin Experiment (2024)
Vegan conspiracy!
It started off well. First episode was interesting, the concept was great. All the selected twins were likeable with good vibe. All in all there was optimism that this was going to be a good experiment and entertaining enough to watch till the end. In the first episode they already started dropping couple of hint that at the end they'd glorify vegan diet. But I thought I'd give benefit of the doubt. Well it did take them long to reveal them as vegan conspirators! More and more they started drifting away from what was happening with the experiment into outright bashing what eating meat does to our health and to our environment. I wonder who produced it, has to be top bosses or organisations profiting from veganism.
Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) (2014)
I feel for Michael Keaton!
Michael Keaton did not win Oscar as best actor in a leading role, Eddie Redmayne won instead for his role in "The Theory of Everything". Good on him, but I have to say Michael Keaton's acting was very powerful. For me he was the best actor in that year. There is lot of hate for this movie, lot of people think Boyhood should have won. Boyhood is a good film and was a good contender. There is no doubt about it, but the better film took the award. This film left a long lasting effect on me. Even after so many years, I still think of this movie as a great one. And I genuinely feel for Michael Keaton, he should have won!
Tom Segura: Sledgehammer (2023)
Tom used to be funny.
I don't know what was that! I laughed once or twice at most. I don't follow his podcast, but I've watched his other specials, his earlier works were fantastic. But now he seems to have lost all his mojo. I wonder if this is because he is so consumed by podcast and so. This special was very disappointing to say the least. I watched till the end, but over 3 days! I only persisted till the end only in the hope that there will be something. But the jokes never landed well. Tom needs to get out of his bubble where all his super fans are simply blinding him to the fact that his materials need some work.
Cocaine Bear (2023)
Giving a 10/10 because
Not sure why is it rated so low. I am giving it a 10 in an attempt to raise its rating a little. I had no idea what sort of movie this was going to be, haven't watched the trailer either. I went to watch this only because I have a monthly membership at a local cinema and I can watch any movie for the monthly membership cost that I pay. So one evening after work I was just feeling like going to a movie, any movie that was showing at that time. And it happened to be this one. I am so glad I went in, it was funny and enjoyable. I had good laugh and came out feeling happier. I think you should go and watch it and the rating below 6.4 isn't justifiable. My true rating would be 7.5/10.
The King of Staten Island (2020)
Only for Bill Burr!
I wanted to watch it only for Bill Burr. But also didnt really want to pay for it either, so thanks to Netflix 🙏. As far as the movie goes, it's a decent watch - go for it. I hope more directors would cast Bill Burr after his performance in this one.
The Mandalorian (2019)
I have not watched Star Wars!
I only started watching this as a big fan of Bill Burr. He mentioned about this on his podcast many times, and I thought OK I will give it a try. God, I am so glad I did.
Also, worth saying I have not watched Star Wars, and still could totally follow the story.
I would highly recommend this show, whether you have watched Star Wars or not!
Romesh Ranganathan: Irrational Live (2016)
Did he take some bits from Louis C.K.?
Good show, would have rated higher. But it felt like he took some bits from Louis CK.
Tom Segura: Ball Hog (2020)
I wish I could rate it higher!
I was really excited for Tom Segura's new special. Couldn't just wait to watch it. However, having watched it, I have to say it was just Okay for me. Falls short compared to his previous specials.
