Wasabi (2001)
A good laugh
The story is about a french policeman with personal working practices that his boss doesn't like much. Jean Reno does very well in this role. His character is the centerpiece of the whole movie. You can also see a snapshot at the Japanese way of life, even though it is adapted to the movie a lot. Not to make this into a long and boring comment, I think you should see this to have a good laugh if you like Jean Reno and his humor.
One Night at McCool's (2001)
A very good surprise
As I saw the story line and the poster of that film, I did really expect some extremely bad empty movie like Bedazzled. Nevertheless, I went to see it and, from the beginning found it interesting. Of course, you shouldn't see this as a serious movie; to criticize the characters as stereotypes just shows that you cannot get rid of your "what is good & what is bad" values even for one hour! It nor shows realistic people, neither optimist or pleasant stereotypes but this is not the point! As a comedy, this movie is excellent! There is a tremendous amount of common caricatures and actions put together in a single movie and the result is awesome! The way the movie is told adds to the interest we have in it. Even though it's a comedy, there is some suspense and surprises. Most of the jokes are about sex but it doesn't make them bad, except for prude people for whom this movie will certainly not be a good entertainment. Enjoy the caricatures and have some fun!
