A League of Their Own (2022)
Not all remakes are bad
I was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked this. The movie is a classic and I really didn't want to see it torn up. It wasn't, it has a fresh spin and Shaw made me laugh out loud. They did things very well for the time period and Abbie J. (SHAW) made the show worth watching! My husband even started watching it and got into it until the end. He hardly watches anything so that is saying something. No, i am sure it had nothing to do with all the women on women action. Hope there is another season.
The Worst Witch (1986)
Better than Hocus Pocus any day!
This is my ALL TIME favorite halloween movie! We were talking about the 2nd Hocus Pocus, trying to figure out why so many people show it so much love when you have movies like The Worst Witch! I don't think it gets the recognition it deserves. It only came out a yr or 2 after I was born but was still a classic throughout my childhood. It's like the original hogwarts with Tim Curry as a sort of younger, 80's vibe, Dumbledore. The girl from the craft is the main character and is the worst at everything. Maybe i saw myself in her, hah! I loved the music when I was a kid and could not get enough of this movie as soon as it started getting chilly outside in the NW. It's from 86 but if you have not seen it, definitely worth a watch.
Uncorked (2020)
Where is the rest?
I really was enjoying this movie until I got the the end and it seemed to abruptly stop without any type of closure. If you want to spend 2 hours setting up a story and then making up your own ending, this is the movie for you. Other than that, I don't regret watching it.
Cons: no closure, predictable/ boring at times, found myself starting to do other things
Pros: unique idea, likable characters, good music, Elijah's voice!
DMZ (2022)
Not sure why there are so many negative reviews
It was a happy accident I found this show. I am glad I started watching it before I read the reviews on here. I thought it was a great story with great performances by Dawson, Lee and Bratt to name a few. I thought I would be disappointed with only 4 episodes. However, I was wrong. Exciting story from the first episode and closure without a bunch of unecessary scences or episodes. I don't agree with many comments I read. This is another dystopian show I thought i knew how it was going to go but it surprised me a bit and I appreciated that. Has some good music too. It's only 4 episodes, try it for yourself.
In the Dark (2019)
Drugs, money laundering, murder and guide dogs oh my!
This is unique especially with the main character being blind. However, it definitely started giving off Ozark vibes especially in the 2nd season. Not as serious as Ozark though. I think Murphy does a great job at the smart, blind, drunk lightening it up a bit. I passed on this a few times before I decided to give it a chance and glad I did. I did not expect such a gritty show for the CW. The description did not do it justice or give away much. I decided to watch it expecting a darker comedy type deal with not much of a story. I was pleasantly surprised when i could not wait to see what would happen next. My interest in the story development and characters grew with each episode. I was definitely not expecting it to go into the drugs, money laundering and murder. It just kept getting darker and more exciting. I was on the edge of my seat towards the end of season 2. Season 3 is starting off right where season 2 left off and I am still hooked.
The Witcher (2019)
First try I quit watching it...big mistake
I tried to watch the first episode maybe 8 months ago and saw the huge spider looking monster in the first scene and thought it looked ridiculous. I quit watching it right there and moved on. I was stuck inside a couple weeks ago and after reading some reviews decided to give it a second chance. I am so glad I did. I watched the entire season that weekend. If you like fantasy and magic definitely give this a try and don't let the first scene scare you away. I am a sucker for that stuff but feel like most times it can be slow getting to it. Not the case here. It kind of gives me GOT vibes with the going back and forth with different storyline that meet up. I think its much faster. Witches, dragons, monsters oh my, its got it all in the first season! I don't think i was ever bored with it. The only thing is I am still kind of confused on how the law of chance or whatever works. I really have fallen in love with this show and the characters. When the storyline meets up BAM end of the season. It leaves me wanting more but that is no surprise. Can't wait for the next installment.
Ragnarok (2020)
Better than expected
I got excited when I heard Midnight City on the opening scene and decided I have to give this a shot. I was pleasantly surprised with what a good job they did with the storytelling. Story is good but its not in your face fantasy or action. This is much less flashy super hero show that takes its time building the characters from the mythical story from the past and mixing it with the present. The whole Thor, giants, mead, etc. is all super fun. At first it was hard to watch Thor because some of his facial expressions made me cringe but I got use to him. The boy/giant that plays the rich kid wears the same Gucci outfit everyday and it bugs me. I would think if he was as rich and they say, he could afford more than 1 outfit. There are some beautiful landscapes and some good music. I like how it plays on envirmental issues without going overboard. I was sad when I realized I was on episode 6 and it was the last one. I see they are doing a season 2 and definitely plan to watch it when its released.
