You (2018–2024)
A disappointing start to Joe's new adventure -
11 February 2023
I was excited for You when I saw the trailers ; turning the show around into a new direction after the same formulaic 3 seasons with different details seemed like an ambitious move that would bring forth a new story to Joe's life but all it has brought is disappointment.

The show reads something like a Lollywood soap opera ; the characters involved in this "whodunit" are entirely uninteresting and it seems as the show has sinked into mediocrity with it's writing. Watching the first / second season of You filled you with a sort of dread and excitement as to what would happen next but now , I just wait for the boring dialogue to finish as fast as possible.

The "whodunit" in itself is also entirely uninteresting ; no effort went into placing any clues around to intrigue the viewer or any sort of brainstorm as to what the motives and obsessions the "Eat The Rich" killer might have.

It seems as if Netflix had their boot down the production of "You" and what emerged as of Season 4 was an unfinished , uninteresting and wholly boring season which seemed rushed with very unrealistic scenarios and characters that you could literally not give a care about. I didn't hate any of the characters and I didn't love them and when they eventually got murdered , the most I could muster up was a "hmm".

This is just the review for Part 1 of Season 4 but this show would need a miracle to become anything more than what it actually is ; a time killer with sex scenes sprinkled in between.

Black Bird (2022)
Simply Terrific
22 January 2023
The very first thing a viewer will notice about this show is the absolutely spot-on casting ; every actor and actress is perfectly cast especially Taron Egerton and Paul Hauser. The one thing this show has absolutely mastered are the time jumps within it ; unlike other shows and movies , the time jumps are added into the plot perfectly so that the viewers can

A) Catch all the significant details B) Not get bored by one setting too much C) Get even more embroiled into the story

By the end , the story had me tearing up and Paul Walter Hauser's performance as Larry Hall had me wide-eyed at multiple times throughout the plot. Jimmy Keene's father also had a strong plot and foundation for his character and although the series only has 6 episodes , each and every character in this show makes you feel as if you've known them for 100 episodes.

House of the Dragon (2022– )
Before Daenerys Targaryen
13 September 2022
I never thought I'd be writing this after the travesty that was GOT Season 8 but wow ; house of the dragon has taken me back to the early days when I first started watching GOT. I never read the books so watching this series felt like a new world to explore again. The characters are refreshing , the references to GOT nostalgic and the actors are simply lovely in terms of their acting and all their chemistry.

The chemistry between Daemon and Rhaenarys as messed up as it sounds is beautifully adapted by both their actors. The King perfectly embodies the sense of duty and misery. The show is refreshing , has a solid storyline and has the potential to be greater than GOT. A solid foundation coupled with a visionary writing team will make House of The Dragon a prodigy. Keep in mind , this review was written by episode 4 and I've not had the guts to skip even 1 second of any episode cause the story has been thrilling so far.

Castlevania (2017–2021)
Belnades and Belmont Strike Again.
13 May 2021
Season 1 - Amazing.

Season 2 - Outstanding Season 3 - Amazing and Outstanding Season 4 - Best of them all.

When I went in to watch Season 4 , I had my doubts. Usually , by the time of later seasons , some shows lose the narrative and wander around here and there but not Castlevania. Season 1 builds the story , Season 2 improves it , Season 3 focuses on character development and Season 4 brilliantly brings it to a close. Belnades and Belmont , "The" Alucard and the forgemasters. Each of their individual stories are brought to a fantastic close leaving the viewer satisfied as hell. No stone in their story is left unturned and while you once hated characters like Lenore , you warm up to them and while you once loved characters like Saint Germain , you turn cold towards them. Isaac who was a side character by season 2 but becomes one of my favourite in Season 4. Hector who I also come to admire later. The only cons I have which are in no way major is that the dialogue felt a little recycled as the writers just needed to fill out some space. The actions scenes were cool as hell but maybe too overused. The comedy was amazing and you have to give credit to the voice actors as their delivery is on point. For anyone that hasn't watched Castlevania , It is witty , funny , filled with suspense , brimming with horror , has amazing character development , has epic storylines that all come to interjoin with each other. THE best anime I have ever watched especially outstanding and unique amongst it's western animes. This show is a MUST watch.

A Lacklustre Series
7 May 2021
After watching 5 episodes, I can't watch anymore. It's just too underwhelming. The show is confusing and doesn't even try to make an effort to explain the context of the series to a reader that didn't read the comics if this adapted series. The action scenes are incredibly dull with overused CGI trying it's best but failing spectacularly. The time jumps are ridiculous. They try to tell the story simultaneously but the time jumps just ruin the momentum of the story. I watched till episode 5 and genuinely couldn't figure out what the show was heading towards or what it was explaining. Really disappointed.

Who Killed Sara? (2021–2022)
Braindead plot
2 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I don't expect every show to be a masterclass in terms of acting and script but at least try! This show is an absolute travesty. He gets framed for his sisters murder , gets out , pulicly announces his intentions to get revenge against the family by hacking the casino TV's ?! Why would you want them to know you're coming but later, he establishes his base in his old house which the family knows of and reveals himself to one of the family members as soon as possible. What's the point? And then a van arrives with people shooting up the place inside out without knowing he's in there and when they have a chance to actually kill him, they spare him?! This show is like a mexican riverdale but at least Riverdale had a good first season. I couldn't make it past the first episode even. And now this travesty has a second season while the society got cancelled. I would feel sorry for you if you were actually so desperate that you watched the entire season of the show.

Shadow and Bone (2021–2023)
Brilliant story combined with an exciting watch
2 May 2021
I've actually never read the Shadow and Bone books. The main problem with these types of shows is that without the watcher having read the books, it can become a little confusing at times. Most would probably just read the books but I started the series straightaway. The series brilliantly introduces you to the overall story and while I was confused a little bit at first by the words grisha, the series slowly made me understand it gradually unlike other fantasy shows that throw you straight into the world. The acting was brilliant, the dialogue entertaining, the twists a little predictable but amazing nonetheless and the sfx was the best I've ever seen. The show is definitely binge worthy and never made me think to even skip 5 seconds ahead as everything was entertaining. I do wish that the story of Nina got more screen time but with so many plot lines,it must be difficult. Overall, a very good show and can't wait for season 2.
